Seth Gecko had always been a man of few words, but that night, in the dimly lit hotel room, the words he needed to say weighed heavily on his mind. He watched as Kate Fuller, the one person who had managed to crack his tough exterior, lay injured on the bed. Blood seeped from a wound on her arm, and she winced in pain as he gently cleaned it.

"Sorry, Kate," he muttered, his voice gruff, "I should've been quicker back there."

Kate looked up at him with a soft, reassuring smile. "Don't blame yourself, Seth. We both knew the risks. We've been through worse."

Seth continued to tend to her injuries, his hands surprisingly gentle. He couldn't help but steal glances at her, his heart pounding in his chest. It was now or never. He had to tell her how he felt.

"Kate," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "there's something I need to say."

She turned her head to look at him, her eyes filled with curiosity. "What is it, Seth?"

He took a deep breath, his fingers brushing against her uninjured hand. "I've never been good at this stuff, but... I need you to know that you mean more to me than I can put into words. You've been with me through thick and thin, and... I care about you, Kate. More than I've cared about anyone."

Kate's expression softened, and a warm smile graced her lips. "Seth, I've been feeling the same way. I don't know how to say it either, but I care about you too."

Seth let out a sigh of relief, his hardened exterior finally breaking. He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Kate, I don't want to lose you. You're not just my partner in crime; you're the one who's stolen my heart."

Tears welled up in Kate's eyes, and she reached out to cup Seth's cheek. "Seth, you don't have to worry about that. We're in this together, and we'll get through anything that comes our way."
