" Today is... a dozing day. Just relax and enjoy yourself, or you can go home and visit your families for the day." Samir said. " We've all been so busy lately and we haven't been able to get any time off to take care of ourselves and our headquarters. I officially declare today as a self-care day. 24 hours of chilling or moving around the island leisurely." Bella said. At the closest hot tub, Rylan scrolls through Tiktok in a swimsuit. " This feels amazing. I wish we had more time to do this in between practice and team-building and bonding exercises." Jeremiah said. " I know, right? On normal days, we'd be doing breakfast and obstacle course challenge training. Everything is nice and slowed down so we can catch up with each other and see the world outside of the headquarters." Mindy said. " I've never seen the mountains outside the headquarters, well, during missions, but we've never seen them up close before. The view is breathtaking... it is." Veronica said. " I don't want this day to end. I wish we weren't so busy all the time." Jeremiah said. " If we weren't busy, how would you guys be as skilled as you are?" Samir asked. " All I'm saying is that we should get some breathing space in between rescues without having to climb through icy caverns or the deepest caves to rescue citizens. It's all in a day's work, and we don't get any bonding time with each other because of this 24/7 job." Jeremiah said. In her room, Veronica is watching a new episode of Full House, Lots of Drama, her favorite show since she turned 10. She had a few flashbacks of being at home and relaxing with a cup of popcorn and an apple cider, with fresh apples from her farm. She started crying. " Hey V, are you OK?" Jeremiah asked, coming into her room. " Um... no. This academy is great and you're all amazing, but I've been homesick these last few weeks." Veronica said, wiping tears from her face. " Well, Samir did say that we could visit our families if we wanted to. Maybe that's what you should do." Jeremiah said.
" Thanks, Jeremiah. That's a great idea. I'll take my time off to visit my family and enjoy myself without having to worry about anything that doesn't require community service training." Veronica said. " I hope we can have more days like this... to just pause and breathe and relax with friends," Rylan said. " Me too, I’ve enjoyed today," Jeremiah said. At the Ice Captial, Veronica splashes into an ice pool. " Ah, this is perfect. I'm relaxing with an icee and I'm surrounded by my family... who I haven't seen in 2 months and now I can use this time to check in with my siblings and cousins." Veronica said.
" Hi, honey. I'm so happy that you're home for the weekend. How's the hotter climate over on those islands?" Ms. Jimenez, Veronica's mom, asked.
" It's very hard to be away from home. Everything is nice here, but I miss picking fruit baskets from the market and I miss my cousins running around everywhere and family dinners." Veronica said.
" Honey. We miss you too. You're becoming a young lady who needs to become independent one way or another, even if it's at another school." Ms. Jimenez said. " I promise to keep in touch with everyone from home," Veronica said.
