"Okay, everyone!" I called out, projecting my voice to reach every corner of the pitch. "Most of you know me, but for anyone who doesn't, I am Annabelle Potter. I am the main Seeker for Ravenclaw, and Behind me is Hugh McKinnon - he is one of the beaters and Vice-caption. We will be trying out for other positions."
I took a moment to let the information sink in before continuing. The crowd was a mix of familiar faces and newcomers, all eager for a chance to be a part of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
"I want people trying out for Chaser to stand here," I said, pointing to my right. A group of students shuffled into position, anticipation written on their faces. "For Seeker, stand here," I continued, pointing to the middle of the pitch. This position, known for its glamour and pressure, drew the attention of many hopefuls.
"For Keeper, stand here," I pointed to the left, designating the space for those vying to guard the hoops. Finally, I gestured to the far left and declared, "For Beaters, over there." The Beaters, responsible for defending their teammates from Bludgers, took their places.
"Now, let's make this quick. We've got a lot to cover, and I'm sure you're all eager to show your stuff," I said, a hint of excitement in my voice. "Each position will have a chance to demonstrate their skills. Chasers, get ready to showcase your precision and teamwork. Seekers, your job is to catch the Snitch. Keepers, defend those hoops. Beaters, show us your control and accuracy with the Bludgers."
I stepped back, giving each group space to prepare. After two hours of scrutinizing work, I finally called off the tryouts. "Good job, everybody! Although you've made our job quite hard," I announced, and cheers erupted from the hopeful candidates.
"The results will be posted in the common room in two days," I continued, making sure everyone knew when and where to find out who made the team. The Quidditch pitch began to clear as students gathered their brooms and equipment, talking excitedly about their performances and speculating on who would make the cut.
Hugh and I continued our discussion, carefully considering the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. The selection process was crucial, and we aimed to build a well-balanced team that could compete effectively in the upcoming Quidditch season.
"Daisy and Jonathan are definite contenders," I agreed, recalling their impressive performances during the tryouts. "They've got the skills and the temperament we need on the team."
"I agree," Hugh added. "And Patel, despite needing improvement, showed potential. With some focused training, he could become a valuable asset. As for Stuart, speed is crucial in Quidditch. We can work on enhancing that aspect during practices."
We meticulously went through the list of candidates, weighing their strengths against areas that needed improvement. It was a challenging task, but one that would shape the Ravenclaw Quidditch team for the year.
"Well, well, well." I heard a sneer "Guess the mudblood lover made captian this year." I let out an internal Goan as I clench my fist. "Buzz of Mulciber, I don't have time for your pathetic insults," I responded, my tone steady despite the anger bubbling beneath the surface. "
Mulciber smirked, seemingly pleased with his attempt to provoke a reaction. Black, Evans, and Nott watched with amusement, their expressions a mix of disdain and arrogance. I could feel my temper rising "Potter, is that really how you talk to your fellow Students?" Black interjected, his tone mocking. "Or are you saving all your charm for your mudblood friends?"
His deliberate use of the offensive term sent a surge of anger through me. I shot him a glare, clenching my fists to keep from lashing out physically. For a moment guilt flicker his eyes before the turn the same cold grey stare. He really is pathetic, going on about how he isn't like his parents when he behaves like this.
