Jaemin was lying on his bed, Jeno having given him some time for himself, and reminisced about all what had happened the last 30 minutes. The other guy had shown him around the apartment and explained some things like at what time people should be careful about being not too loud in the evening. He also had made sure Jaemin got everything and knew about the standard rules of living in the apartment complex, plus some rules for living with him.
"First, and I don't think that will be an issue with you, but I still wanted to tell you it, please don't bring over any weirdos. You don't have to inform me about everyone that is coming over, because this is not my apartment, it's ours now, so you are free to bring anyone anytime as long as you respect my personal space. This rule applies to me too. I will be considerate to not disturb you when I am hanging out with someone here. Second, we both contribute to keep this place clean, so we both do chores, alright? Oh and lastly, there is no curfew, but if you come home late, please be careful and try to be quiet to not wake the other person up. This again applies to me too," Jeno had explained, Jaemin agreeing with all points.
So far, living together with Jeno seemed quite comfortable, though he could obviously not make a good judgement after only having known him for like an hour. Jaemin sat up, letting his eyes wander over his new bedroom again. It was huge, like the rest of the apartment and he could still not believe that this was the place he would be calling "home" in the future.
His boxes were piled up in one corner of the room and he was already looking forward to decorate the room a bit and make it look personal. When he wanted to stand up to unpack some of what was stored in the big cardboard boxes, the sound of his ringtone filled the comfortable silence of the room making Jaemin jolt a bit in surprise.
"Huh, who is that?," he wondered. His heart not having recovered from the shock of the sudden call yet, he took his phone out of the pocket of his jacket that was lying on his bed, as he had messily thrown it there when he had entered the room.
"Renjun", the caller-ID showed and Jaemin didn't hesitate and answered the call, sitting down on the bed again.
"And how is he? Is he a dick or okay?," Renjun immediately asked, not even greeting, which made Jaemin chuckle. His friend was just too nosy.
"He seems nice, rather calm..," he answered playing with the blanked distractedly.
"Uh, okay. Does he look good?," Renjun wanted to know.
"Yeah, he is handsome, I guess," Jaemin told him and smiled a bit.
"Hmm, I see. That's great then. And how is the apartment?," the other continued on asking questions.
"It's huge, like damn. But I mean, I am not complaining. I even have a double sized bed!", Jaemin explained, still amazed himself.
"What!? Man, I envy you. You can expect me to come over often," Renjun said, which made Jaemin chuckle.
"Sure, you're always welcome. Jeno also told me he doesn't mind if I bring over some friends, as long as they are decent," Jaemin replied.
"So his name is Jeno? Interesting," Renjun commented, sounding indeed very interested.
"Yup."
Then Jaemin could hear some background noises coming from Renjun, someone talking to him.
"Ah, Jaemin, I would have loved to talk to you a bit more but Xiaojun and me are going out, we're meeting up with Zhanghao, a new freshman from the music department that recently transferred. He's Chinese too and I'm so excited" his friend announced.
"Oh, I see, I remember you talking about him," Jaemin retorted, his curiosity about this Zhanghao boy growing. He was taking a mental note to ask Renjun more about the boy his friend had been mentioning often these days.
"Okay then, have a nice time!" he exclaimed.
"You too. And don't forget to decorate the room with our photos," Renjun lastly stated which made Jaemin grin again.
"I will, bye," he ended the call with the grin remaining on his face.
Then he actually stood up and went to unpack some of the stuff he had brought with him. First, he started to fill the huge closet with his clothes while putting on some music. When he had lived with his old roommate, he wouldn't have minded singing along but now only the thought of Jeno, who was basically still a stranger, hearing any of his vocals made him feel embarrassed. So he just vibed with the song, moving his body along the beat.
That way, time always went over quickly and soon, Jaemin had put most of his things where they belonged, the room now looking more colorful with his pens and other learning material stacked onto the table which stood near the wall opposite his bed. Of course, he hadn't forgotten to place a selfie of him and Renjun in a picture frame next to his notebooks and folders.
Even though there were still a lot of parts of the chamber that could use some deco, he already liked it much more. The familiar objects that made the space his own, personal space, made him feel like this really was his home. Perfectly timed, he heard a knock on his door, to which he replied with a short "Yes", before it opened, revealing Jeno, who was shortly checking out the room's new appearance before starting to speak.
"Uhm, I wanted to ask if you wanted to go out and eat dinner at some restaurant. Food's on me," he bluntly asked, leaning against the doorframe while waiting for a response.
"Sure, why not," Jaemin accepted the invitation and slightly jerkily stood up from where he had been sitting on the floor cross-legged, having had spaced out before Jeno had knocked.
"Let's see to what snob restaurant he takes me," he thought while they were making their way through the flat.
