13 year old Fuyuki Hinata sat by his Tokyo school pool sulking and hiding in the corner. He has zero athletic ability and anybody who has met him for more than three minutes knows this.
“I don’t wanna get in the pool. Please don’t make me swim. Don’t call my name.” he kept muttering worriedly to himself over and over.
A tap on his shoulder causes him to jump to his feet. He turns around to see his sister. Slightly older, but also 13, she is taller than Fuyuki by at least three inches if not more and she has pink hair.
“Fuyuki, relax. The bell rang a minute and a half ago. You don’t have to swim.” Natsumi said, fighting a grin.
“I-I knew that.” Fuyuki said with a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
“Sure you did, and Koyuki isn’t my best friend and Keroro is a genius.” Natsumi said, giggling at her brother’s ignorance.
Of course, she is talking about the green frog-like alien from a race known as Keronians that is the platoon leader for a platoon of four other, (and honestly more brighter) frog-aliens that is headquartered in her basement and under her house altogether. From here on out, these “frog-aliens” will be referred to as their race name, Keronians. And Koyuki is her best friend who is 14.
“I was called?” said a girl with black hair at similair height to Natsumi walking up.
“Hey, Koyuki!” Natsumi said, hugging her friend.
“Hey, Natsumi!” Koyuki said, hugging Natusmi back with equal intensity.
“What’s Fuyuki doing here? This is a girl’s physical education class, right?” Koyuki asked when the hug was released.
“Yes, Koyuki, it is. But Fuyuki here was too busy hiding from the pool and the coach to hear the bell two minutes ago. He needs to get a-moving if he’s to beat the tardy bell!” Natsumi said, niggling at her brother’s flustered face.
Fuyuki grabs his backpack and rushes into the building. His mind is solely focused on making it to math class on time. As he rushes by the main entrance, he plows straight into a kid walking in late for the school day. The odd-shaped case in the mysterious boy’s hand goes flying across the hallway and Fuyuki is knocked flat on his back by the sheer force of him running into the boy. The boy, appearing to be 13, stands over Fuyuki. HIs facial expression reads as not pleased. However, there is a wicked sparkle to his eyes, and after about six seconds of the fake slight anger facade, he gives a small grin and extends an arm downward to help Fuyuki to his feet.
“Sorry ‘bout that.” Fuyuki said, picking up the boy’s odd-shaped case and handing it to him, scratching the back of his head in another embarrassed fashion.
“No problem.” the mysterious boy said quietly, his small grin still creeping acoss his face. Keep in mind, this is not a creepy grin, this is a happy grin.
“I don’t recall seeing you around here before. Are you new?” Fuyuki asked.
“Yes. This is my first time stepping foot in the school.” the boy said quietly, still grinning.
“Say, why are you coming in the middle of the day instead of coming in the morning today or even tomorrow morning?” Fuyuki asked.
“I had a doctor’s appointment and my mom insisted I come today since my brother came in this morning.” the boy answered quietly.
“Oh, hey what’s your name?” Fuyuki asked.
“Jeremy.” was the quiet response.
