Manager: "Mackenzie, you're hired"
Mackenzie could barely contain his excitement, but he managed to keep his cool.
Mackenzie: "Thank you sir for this opportunity"
Manager: "Very well Mackenzie, your first shift begins on Monday"
Mackenzie shook hands with his new manager, a miniature schnauzer, making sure to shake his hand firmly and remain in eye contact with his new boss, a skill the Border Collie had learned in school. After saying his goodbyes, walked out of the restaurant as the newest member of the Hungry Hound staff.
Mackenzie: "Mum! Dad! I got the job!"
After going back to his car, excitedly exclaimed the good news to his parents.
Mackenzie's Mum: "I always believed in you Kenzie"
Mackenzie's Dad: "I'm proud of you son, good on you"
Mackenzie: "Thank you Mum and Dad"
After ending the call with his parents, Mackenzie thinks of who else to tell the good news to.
Mackenzie: "Oh I know"
Mackenzie begins to call Bluey, who answers almost immediately.
Bluey: "Hey Kenzie, watcha doing?"
Mackenzie: "Hey Bluey, I was just calling to tell you that I finally got a job!"
Bluey: "Oh really? That's great!"
Mackenzie: "Yeah, I'm working at the Hungry Hound now"
Bluey: "You better be bringing me food after your shifts. After all, I am your girlfriend now"
Mackenzie hearing this gave him butterflies, causing him to sit while blankly staring.
Bluey: "Umm....Mackenzie?"
Mackenzie: "Oh sorry Bluey, I was just...well I don't know"
Bluey: "Oh it's ok, just make sure to give me food"
Mackenzie: "Ok I guess; I'll see you at school on Monday"
Bluey: "Bye Kenzie"
Later
Mackenzie sat in his room reflecting on the events of the day, typical for Mackenzie late on a Friday night. School rolled by as usual, and Mackenzie had applied for his job. Then there was the awkward call with Bluey before coming home to squad up with the guys for a few hours. Pretty typical, but Mackenzie couldn't get his mind off the fact that Bluey was his girlfriend. This had been a reality for around a week at this point, but Mackenzie's mind had a hard time comprehending this fact. In fact, just Bluey mentioning it was enough to send Mackenzie's mind into an endless spiral of thoughts. He pondered on it until he fell asleep...
Monday
The day was long and monotonous but this was how most days were. However, today was different for Mackenzie as he would get to experience his job for the first time. After school, he rushed home to put on his uniform and prepare for his shift.
Mackenzie: "Bye Mum, I'll see you later"
Mackenzie's Mum: "Bye son, and make sure to not be late"
After arriving at the Hungry Hound, Mackenzie goes and checks in, officially beginning his shift. The restaurant is not particularly busy, as to be expected on an uneventful Monday evening. Without many tasks, Mackenzie attempts to get to know his fellow co-workers. There's three other workers, all appearing to be older than Mackenzie. Mackenzie begins to become acquainted with a Welsh Corgi who appears to barely be older than him. The Corgi, Tyler, appears to share some interests with Mackenzie, allowing for conversation between the two. This helps the time go by faster.
