The night wasn't over yet, Reagan noted to herself. She should have been checking up on the spies she placed around the lord. She should have been soaking in information about him. She was to report to her mothers when she got back. She was supposed to be busy. Yet she couldn't help herself from lingering in the ball room. Her eyes flitted around the scene, straying too close to the center for her taste. She kept herself hidden from view and head lowered. In the shadows she watched as the rajkumari twirled around the floor with the lord.

Her jealousy burned bright as a lantern but she couldn't bring herself to address it. She knew the lord saw her dancing continuously with Bela. She supposed it was her fault for showing far too much interest in one person when she was supposed to be showing none to anybody. But her judgement clouded the first time she laid her eyes on the sweet woman.

She wondered about the consequences of her interacting with a princess of a smaller kingdom. But those questions were flung away as soon as she was asked to dance. For just a moment, she let her better judgement fall away as she took her hand. Dancing with her was clearly a mistake.

The woman had no idea what she did to Reagan's heart. Especially now that she danced with another.

Her eyes hardened as she noticed the lord smiling at her dance partner. She must do something about her spies, and soon. She wasn't about the let go of the disgrace. He should know quite well that he was playing with fire.

She noticed the music coming to an end. The notes trilled in a lighter tone signaling the end of the song. She trailed her gaze towards a butler standing next to the lord's chief knight. One of her spies. The man caught her gaze and nodded slightly. Maybe she could listen in to a bit of information instead of moping over a princess. She blinked twice before turning away. There was a secret stairway which led to one of the balconies above. She made her way into one of them and looked below into the ballroom.

She appreciated the fact that these small cages of space were covered with black glass so the guests outside couldn't see her. It's almost like its too easy to sneak around the castle. With all the spies Torukaz placed over the decades, it wouldn't be too hard to launch an ambush by the next year. or even sooner.
