[AN] I'm going through and titling all my chapters. Go back and see them if you want!
I am shaken awake by Casey a little while later. I raise my head about to speak, but she puts a finger to her lips motioning to stay quiet. I hear footsteps nearby and I tense up. We see a shadow climbing up the wall and realize someone is trying to get onto the roof. Casey motions to the other side of the roof and we move that way, stealthily, ready to escape. We look to see who it is climbing up. With our bodies poised to bolt out of there, a head pops up into view.
"Guys are you up there?" We hear a familiar voice say and we sigh in relief. Rose's head pops up into view and she crawls over to us.
"Damn it Rose we thought you were a staff member," Casey says with a sigh of relief. She gives Rose a quick hug.
"How is it out there?" Casey asks.
"It's a war zone, seriously guys. Paint is everywhere and I didn't see anyone nearby," she says quietly.
"Glad you didn't get caught then," I say smiling. "how do we know if we've won?" I wonder out loud.
"The staff usually goes around with megaphones," Casey says laughing at my expression.
"Seriously? They put can trackers in the bags, but they still have to resort to megaphones?" I say shocked and a little disappointed.
"Super high tech," Rose says trying to put on a serious face. We laugh quietly. Suddenly familiar voices cut into our conversation.
"We only got caught because you two were so busy arguing that you didn't even hear them coming," Isabelle complains.
"Hey, you were supposed to be on lookout. Either way we lasted a long time, longer than almost everyone and the sooner this is over the sooner they'll let us eat anyway. I'm hungry," Alex's voice replies and disappears.
"So the game is almost over then it seems like," I remark when they are out of range and we are sure no one else is nearby.
"Seems like it, they must want this game to go fast. Plus no food was provided so they can't exactly starve us for a game since everyone would just break the rules and go inside," Rose replies after a moment of thought.
"That's true. I wonder how many-,"
Casey gets cut off when Rose suddenly covers both of our mouths looking panicked. We all stay completely silent hearing voices underneath us. We freeze, not daring to move a muscle.
"Looks like Stroker's group figured out there are trackers in the bags," we hear a deep voice say. A couple other voices sound out in reply.
"She's smart."
"Where do you think they ran off too then?"
"How many groups do we have left?"
"Shut up and I'll answer those questions," the original voice says impatiently. It gets silent quickly.
"Yes, she is smart. That's why know she's the one who figured the tracker. Darnes and Carson aren't the brightest, but they're good. And they listen to orders so if she told them that they'd believe it. We have no idea where they could be hiding since they aren't being tracked anymore and there's only four more groups including them to get. The others are estimated to be caught soon," the voice says.
"Sir. Ross' team is out," a new, feminine sounding voice says.
Casey and Rose break out into grins along with me. We focus back on the conversation below us.
