I wake up with Taylor pretty much on top of me I get up an get dressed and Ann is at the dining room table eating her breakfast.I glare at her "You make eating healthy hard" going into the kitchen I scrabble two eggs an chop up a pepper and put in it.After we all eat I get my boots on walking outside. Whistling I call hurr up bridle her and saddle her up. We ride out into the field I spit my uncles horse under a shade tree by the fence so I collect hurr into a canter an stop her by my uncle robins horse jack. I throw my left leg over and slide down I walk to Uncle Robin, I sigh and roll my eyes as I see his ranchhand by him. Austin the definition of trouble I bet if I looked in the dictionary under trouble is in big bold letters under the word would say 'Austin, The most trouble and A pain to Nicole'
''Hey Uncle what will we be working on today'' I ask standing in the other side of him.
"This stupid f@*king gate won't open and we need to run cattle an get the cows and calves separated and Brand, Tag,and vaccinate them." He says that hopping up and kicking the gate he walks off mumbling words he should never say. I let out a small chuckle and open the gate by pulling up the bottom rod. "Wasn't that hard" I hear Austin say. I laugh an say "just took these guns to do the trick" laughing we join robin. "Nicole get ole one horn she is the lead cow" My uncle laughs as he sees my face drop.
"Are you trying to kill me?" I ask astonished "Do you not remember what happened to jet!" I let out a whinny yell. Jet was one of my uncle prized breeding cattle dogs, he has a huge ugly scar on him now where one horn flung him in the air and sliced him in the gut and to the shoulder. "You will be fine that horse of yours will protect you" he says an points to the cow. " why have I not cut her up for steak yet?" I questioned me. "Heard it and its not happening she is a great mother" Austin says. "Another reason why I hate you stop agreeing with him!" I yell and canter hurr off towards one horn I undo my lasso and hit it on the side on my leg I spin around getting her to got the direction I wanted with all the cattle following behind. "See hun you got it" Uncle R tells me. "Just Lucky" Austin says an I hear a Oof an see Austin on the ground. I laugh and give my uncle a thumbs up. After getting most of the cattle into the gate I stay at the gate and They round up the strays. "Good work now lets start the real fun "/Uncle R says dismouting and ties jack up Austin does the same, staying in the saddle I ride around the herd " I say it might be 2 hours tops so lets go" I push some cattle and hit their back with my rope. I spin hurr around, getting my lope ready, I spin it and rope a calf by its hind feet and drag it to Austin he grabs it an undose the rope an I recoil my rope and do that over and over again. Austin puts the calves in a pen and Uncle R ran to the Barn to get the tags, brand, and vaccinations. I trot hurricane around an look for an more calves" Austin can you see anymore calves?" Austin hops up on a fence looking around "Nope, now help me start the branding fire" Austin waves me over I hop off hurr and let her lose in the sea of cattle. I jump over the gate and look at all the calves, we grab the wood we needed and the lighter we stoked the fire about the time it was ready uncle R walked in with everything we need he put 3 of the same brands in the fire. "Give that a min to hit up so we can mix the vaccine an get ear tags ready" he walks to our small table we have inputs the stuff down getting it out the tags an laying them out perfectly next he grabs the vaccines and dumps out a bag of needles. "Remember onl.." I stopped him in his speech and finished it " only use the needle for one cow each don't put the same needle in two cows" I smile I get some shots ready. "Let's do this" I whistle to hurr an she comes over and waits for me I hope on her and fix up my rope. I rope the first calf an drag it by the fire Austin pins the front why I keep some pressure on its hind legs with my rope. Uncle robin tags it first then vaccinate and lastly branding. We do that for another hour till its done we leave the calves alone an mess with the cows and bull. I push the into the ally for the squeeze shot and one by one the get sprayed and vaccinated,some get metal ear clips if they are missing the ear Tag. After we do the we release all of them and the calves run bailing to the moms. I laugh and make my way to the Barn I fed the Barn cat I fed the Guineas ad go home I shower and get ready to ride I grab my phone an see missed calls from dalton I text him and say I'm free. I get hurr ready by bridling her about the time the girls run out smiling as they catch their horses. " Why are y'all so happy?" I ask mounting hurricane and flexing her neck "The boys last night are riding their horses down her now!" They yelled. I smile "all three of them" Taylor winked I blush an walk hurricane away. I walk her around the house to our arena we have I trot her around barrels tell I her Ann yell "Here they come!!!" I trot her back around the house and down the driveway "hey stranger" I call out "you seem a little lost need a helping hand?" He laughs an trots his horse to me and stops an looks at me " I'm a little lost I'm looking for a pretty blonde girl on a paint" he looks at me and my horse and I laugh " I think you found them" I laugh an walk hurricane besides his horse "what's his name?" I lean down an pet him "Copenhagen cope for short tho" we get to the areana an I'm blushing when I see my aunt looking at me off of the back porch " Don't look now girls but sissy is watching us " I say trotting to the barrels the turning her around them I come back and pat her. "So Nicole will you be my date at my party tonight?" He nervously scratches the back of his neck. "Yeah but you good sir have to met part of my family first no hiding you now" I laugh at his face. "So where is your place?" I ask stopping hurricane. "bout a mile down the road the house the has the horse walker an a pond beside it" he says but adds "an not the far of a ride away" and winks. After a couple hours of goofing around we tie the horses up an go inside Uncle R is on the couch with some ice tea and sissy is cleaning the kitchen. "Hey y'all I'd like you to meet dalton, Dakota, and Jake" I point at each of the guys. "We are going for a ride and hanging out at his house, love y'all see you later" we ran out of the house raced to the horses, mounted and raced to Dalton's house. Me and dalton were taking the lead.I saw his driveway and turned hurricane sharp. I gave her head to her an held on tight I passed him by two horse lengths. Stopping hurricane I laughed falling of my horse. "Nicole are you OK?" Dalton yells hovering over me. I gasp for air" I'm fine". He picks me up I laugh and dust off my butt. "So cowboy since I'm here what can I, I mean we do to help set up for tonight?" I ask "we have everything ready just have to wait for people to show up" he hugs me. " So what are we doing tell then?"
"Ride into our arena and have fun" he said hoping back on his horse I get on hurr I don't even bother to pick up the reins. I get her a squeeze an by the time we got into the arena I saw barrels and poles set up. "Dalton, can I run barrels and poles?" I yell to him. He looks at me and smile "of course you can hun, you don't have to ask" he yelled back an chuckled. I give hurricane her head an spured her we came to the first barrel I use my legs to move her around the barrel,running to the second barrel I moved up more on her withers I turned her head and used my left leg a little more, as we approach the third I moved up again I just turned her head and ran home. After stopping I turned back around. I ran poles and almost fell off twice.
After a couple hours of playing around the arena people start showing up. I glue myself to Dalton's hip as the others do, hating meeting new people dalton laughs and slides his hand into mine interlocking bring my hand to his lips an kisses it " Its going to be alright hun, cause I'm right by your side." I blush crimson red an hide my face by leaning into his shoulder. We walk hand in hand to the unstarted bonfire I let his hand go. Grabbing the five gallon bucket of diesel I pour it on the fire, Dalton come behind me and takes a sick dipping it in diesel. Kissing my check making me blush he says "thank ya" and lights the stick on fire. I finish pouring the diesel an put it down by the other buckets of deisel. Dalton drives his truck and backs it up to the bonfire, opening the tailgate he grabs me and put me on it along with him. Jumping off the tailgate I get my phone out with my aux cord and jump in his truck plugging it in and hitting my country playlist. I hop on the tailgate with him and watch people dance. As soon as the beat to my fav song(Copenhagen by Chris Ledoux) came on I started singing when all of the sudden dalton grabbed me and we danced I laughed when he spun me making me land straight on my butt. When the fire started dieing down dalton and I walked hand in hand to check on my horse she was laying down so he grabbed his truck and we went to the lake. I jumped out taking my shirt off and shorts running, diving head first and swimming pretty much to the other side before, he jumped in. "Ahhh!!!," Was the first thing to come out of his mouth, "this water is so flippin' cold'' he grumbled. Laughing I swim to him poking his cheek" Don't be such a baby " I giggle when he acts hurt, kissing his check I giggle an say"I'm srry." "So pretty lady we you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" He shyly asks, with the moon light just right I saw he crimson cheeks. Kiss his red cheeks, "yes, I'd be honored." After a hour of swimming we head to his house. When we open the door I hide a giggle. Ann and Dakota are on the loveseat cuddling, while Taylor and Jake are on the bigger couch. We walk in not being noticed we go to his room. "You can have the shower first hun, and before you can say anything about not having clothes here an srry I'm not quiet your size." I laugh an grab them walking into his bathroom. After my shower I grab my dirty laundry "hey cowboy can I was these for tomorrow?" He runs in already washed up and grabs them walking out he throws them in the wash and starts it. "Their all finished cowgirl" he kisses my cheek we walk into the living room with everyone's eyes glued to the tv. Looking for a place to seat their is non so I start to set in to floor, when arms wrap around my waist and pull me into the lap. "You my darling don't have to set in the floor" he smiles "Also you should tell your family your staying the night". I mumble a OK I go to grab my phone but its not their, jumping up I run into the bathroom Not their, I run as fast as I can into the laundry room opening the lid I find my Jean shorts with my phone inside them. I'm screaming inside, running into the living room yelling " I need rice now" dalton jumps up with me and everyone makes their way into the kitchen. Grabbing dry rice and a bowl I dump rice into the bowl I put my phone in it an put more rice on top of it. " Cowboy can I use your phone till mine dries?" I smile. "Of course cowgirl" he laughs an digs his phone out giving it to me. I call my aunt and till her we are going to spend the night. After everyone finishes their show and starts a new one my eyes get heavy,I snuggle into Dalton's chest and close my eyes letting him think im asleep,I hear him say " I'm calling it a night" he gets up an caries me into his room laying me on the left side of the bed, hearing some rustling then the bed dip behind me. After a min he moves, a arm snakes around me pulling into his chest. He sighs "goodnight sweetheart" kissing my cheek. I blush " Night, cowboy" after that I slowly drift off to sleep.
