Weird Things Are Happening

Corey went out shopping earlier while I tidy up around the house. My phone rings so I leave the bathroom and walk to the living room, picking up my phone I see it's mom ringing
"Hey mom" I answer smiling
"Hi sweetheart how are you?"
"I'm good thank you how are you and dad?"
"We're good. How's the ghost hunting going with Elton? I hope he's not pushing you to much or else I'll be having words" I chuckle at my mom
"Elton's not pushed to much promise. He's to scared of you and dad to do that to me" I hear the front door open then shut telling me that Corey is back home
"Hey baby?"
"Hang on mom Corey's just got home. Yeah?" I call out and make my way over to Corey who's frowning at me "what's wrong?"
"The car broke down on the way to the grocery store"
"What? Hey mom can I call you back later?"
"Of course, but is everything ok?" she asks sounding worried
"Yeah apparently the cars broken down"
"I thought it had just had its service done?"
"Yeah that's what's a little weird. I'll speak to you later. Love you"
"Love you to" I put down the phone and place it on the table in the kitchen
"What happened?"
"I was just driving and the car engine just turned off and wouldn't turn back on"
"Seriously? Where where you?" Corey looks at me nervously before saying
"Colorado Street Bridge" my eyes widen
"Suicide Bridge?" I almost choke out feeling really weird that that's where the car brakes down
"Yeah" Corey sighs
"How did you get home?"
"That's the weird part. I rang the recovery team and when they arrived they said that there was no reason why the cars engine should have turned off. They moved the car for me to a car park to have another look and it turned on"
"What? What the fuck?"
"That was my reaction. Shall we just order in tonight then we can try shopping again tomorrow?"
"Errm yeah what do you fancy?"
"Let's just order a pizza"

That's what we did. We ordered pizza and watched the TV till we are both struggling to stay awake, so we both head to bed at 1 in the morning. Corey is out like a light and all though I'm tired I can't sleep. I lay there with my eyes closed trying to go to sleep. That's when I hear footsteps in the living room area of our apartment. Frowning I sit up and carefully slip out of bed and leave the bedroom. I turn on the living room light on to see nothing around. Thinking it's just my brain making random noises because I'm tired. I go to the fridge and get out a bottle of water. Shutting the fridge I jump turning around to see Corey walking out of the bedroom
"Jesus Corey" I say placing a hand on my heart
"What are you doing up?"
"Couldn't sleep then heard footsteps so came to have a look. Saw nothing so got a drink"
"Ok rewind. You heard footsteps so went to investigate but didn't wake me up? What if there was an intruder? What if someone was armed?"
"Ok when you put it like that it was a little silly of me but what would you have done if that were the case?" I ask with a raised eyebrow
"Well told you to not go and investigate for a start"
"Meaning you would have gone to look and risked your own life?"
"Beats you getting hurt. Now come back to bed, I want a cuddle"
"Ok ok I'm coming" I follow Corey back to bed, still holding my bottle of water. I place it down on the night stand and crawl into bed next to Corey who wraps me up in his arms. After a little while I manage to fall asleep.

Flashback
"Mr Castee?"
"Yeah that's me. How's my sister?"
"Shes still asleep, but if I'm honest there's no reason to why she would have passed out. All the tests we've done have come back clean. Her blood pressure and blood sugar levels came back normal. She's not on any medication. Hasn't got any conditions which would cause this. Was she upset before she fainted?" Corey sighs nodding his head
"Yeah she was crying. Said she felt like she couldn't breathe"
"Like someone was chocking her"  Corbin responds
"Being upset can cause fainting. Can I ask what you were all doing?"
"We were investigating The Queen Mary Ship"  Elton says and the doctors face drops.
