Quickly, she turned around, facing the sky, and focused on the faint moon hidden amongst the clouds. She knew there was no going back once she broke the seal. Her only goal for the last several weeks was to make it to her release. Now, it's to survive the release.

She inhaled one final deep, profound breath.

Her body was shaking with fear, but her heart remained valiant.

She recited the words firmly, " Vita sum et mors sum, video, loguor, audio, forma sum inevitabilis vigoris.Carissimi, patres caelestes, indomiti et mansueti, si preces meas audieritis, adiuva me ad chaos evellere intra me......".

Translation:

I am life and I am death, I see, I speak, I hear, I am an inevitable form of energy. Dear heavenly fathers, untamed and tamed, if you hear my prayers, help me to uproot the chaos......within me

In the blink of an eye, a wave of anxiety and fear swept over everything and everyone, like fleeting moments of unease seizing control. To witness this event was quite a spectacle for everyone in attendance.

Halo attempted to relax her body to let the chaos flow out of her easily. She gripped onto pieces of grass to help her fight back the urge to gag and throw up. The chaos felt slimy and heavy as it began to travel up her throat and out of her mouth. Once exposed, it was like a black cloud returning into the sky. She didn't feel any pain at first as the black cloud turned into an aura of colors as it disappeared into the sky.

The crowds of people speculating the release were in awe as the chaos put on a beautiful display identical to the northern lights. Although the outcome was beautiful -visible pain was now seen on her face. She fought against herself and needed to stay relaxed to avoid making the situation worse.

This was the release at almost its full effect.

For the last several days, everyone with the help of the church romanticized her purpose and the release to avoid the brutality of it. Now, as the crowds of people were able to personally see her they knew it in their hearts there was nothing beautiful about it.

It was an exorcism.

As it continued, Halo could feel her body starting to give out. This was beyond overwhelming for her. Elysium alongside Halo's family joined in prayer. The trails they'd done to prepare for this day were not enough to possibly train for this 'purification'. Her arms gave out, and she felt herself slowly transitioning to the point of no return.

Halo laid out helplessly on her knees as the chaos started to take over her. Her arms flung behind her, not holding on to anything. Her back extended as the chaos began to shoot out into the sky. Every time one escaped she was never fully able to catch her breath before another escaped.

People in the front were starting to back away from her at the sight of this scene. The knights were ready with their swords to deflect any solo spirits rumored to appear during the ritual and attack. The sorcerers slowly took cautious steps towards her, closing in to stop her if needed. The senior knights know how quickly the release can turn deadly. The majority of the knights had scars and amputated limbs to show for it.

What was a beautiful light show was starting to turn into a violent thunderstorm. At the first sight of heavy lightning, the townsfolk ran to their homes and nearby buildings in fear of being struck down. If she was struck it would be considered a 'power' surge for her. The church wouldn't know if it benefited or went against them. The council nervously eyed her hoping she wouldn't be struck. They couldn't allow a martyr to be born.

The chaos seemed everlasting as it steadily slithered out of her mouth. The darkest parts of the chaos that she absorbed were now starting to appear. Thick chunks of black goop fell onto the grass. The rest of the onlookers walked away hastily from the scene in horror.

Devoted followers, family, and friends stayed behind to support Halo. The knights formed a border as they attempted to keep people back. Elysium and her mother, Uma, made a sprint for the hill, barely escaping the guards that attempted to hold them back. They both could visibly see Halo was giving up and wouldn't live past the unleash. Uma could see her mouth moving but couldn't hear the words her daughter was trying to shout. The closer she got, the nightmare was unveiled before her.

Halo pleaded in between the chaos, "Kill me... kill me now."

A series of chaotic energy began to fire out of her mouth. She vigilantly looked around to see if anyone heard her plea. As she locked eyes with the guards, she noticed they heard her plea but would not satisfy her wish. No one dared touch her, let alone kill her. She held out her hand, but no one reached back.

She was going to have to do this on her own. Halo didn't know if she had the strength to commit suicide, but she would soon discover that herself. Suicide was always on Halo's mind but ever since Elysium walked into her life those thoughts had been doormat till now. It felt like her only escape from this world. She had attempted several times, but she never had enough courage to fully see it through. In her last dying breaths, she always found a way to save herself. In her eyes, this wasn't a suicide but rather a sacrifice.

Halo's blood pressure continued to rise as her breathing became rapid. Blood dripped down from her nose and eyes onto her chest. Feeling desperate, she yelled out in pain. The storm became more violent as it struck the Earth harder and faster with each strike. Nearby trees burst into flames as the lightning struck them individually.

Uma was feeling a sense of hope as she was more than a dozen steps away from her daughter. As a parent, seeing her child in an unbearable amount of pain became overwhelming for her. She couldn't see a knight coming towards Halo to give her his sword for her deconstruction. In Uma's eyes, the knight had given Halo a sword to end herself. In the knight's eyes, he threw one of his swords so Halo could protect herself from the spirits that lingered underneath the skin of her back. The knights charged up back the hill and prepared in stance to fight.

Elysium ran past Uma to get to Halo in time. Up to the last second he held on to the hope that she wouldn't do it. Elysium was aware this was always a possibility but never imagined she would do it.

One way or another the past vessels fell and he trusted her not to fall the same way. He needed her to break the cycle- he needed her here with him. If anyone could survive the release it would be her.

Elysium started to second guess, doubting if she knew how he truly loved her. He questioned if his love was enough- if it was ever enough. Around her, the scene was chaotic as the knights fought against the spirits that encircled her.

The knights and the spirits were different sides of the same coin. Both of them fight to protect Halo from each other. In the eyes of the wielding metal giants, Halo had the power to kill the spirits. On the other hand, the spirits fought maliciously because they needed Halo alive and under their control. The sea of mayhem extended as it unfolded around Halo.
