he was still asleep by the time kenny had woken up

her heart ached seeing him slumber upon the hard floor, even asleep he looked incredibly uncomfortable, she thought about gently waking up him so he could take over the bed and sleep in for a few hours but she knew leo would refuse her offer; he hated sleeping in and his pride wouldn't let him

the inn was offering breakfast and kenny thought it would be a kind gesture to at least treat him to food as a thank you for being such a gentle-men, she grabbed a bowl of strawberries, two small loaves of bread with water, a perfect meal to start their day

when she arrived back leo had awoken from his sleep, he seated himself at the little workbench; writing with deep concentration as he occasionally dipped his pen into the tub of ink, kenny placed the tray on the mattress and gently tapped on his shoulder to gain his attention

"i brought us breakfast"

he looked at her with an unreadable expression, his expression was grouchy and his eyes looked worn out, sleeping on the wooden floor must've put him into a damper mood, his expression loosened a bit when he noticed the bowl of strawberries

"i know their you're favourite so i thought to treat you with food, as a way to show my gratitude"

his eyes continued to flicker at her and the tray of food, he muttered a polite thank you before taking his half of the portion and resigning back to his workbench, kenny sat in bed as she indulged her morning meal; noticing immediately how leo left her a larger portion of feeding

after finishing up their meal leo began pack up their belongings and said they should stop by at the local shops to re-stock on supplies, it was only the first day of their mission and they hardly made a dent in their water and food supply but it was always best to be extra prepared and re-stock whenever given the opportunity too

villages in general tended to be excluded from the kingdom grounds and given the local inn harboured local thugs for rooming it was safe to say the village was a nick-tight ground where they only kept to themsleves

leo visited the local blacksmith to check out the inventory of weapons, he didn't buy anything from there but purchased more magical herbs from the magic shop in case of medical emergencies; "one could never be too prepared" owen always used to say

when he left the magic shop he realized kenny wasn't by his side; a curse he muttered under his breath and began to venture around the area, kenny was always a wanderer never one to stay in one place for too long, in the past leo used to joke of pursuing her a bell so she may never be lost from his sight

he found her eyeing the bakery window, her eyes trailing to the many displays of surgery sweets; horrible for dental care but did wonders for the soul

"did you purchase anything?"

she nodded and showed him his inventory; 2 more jugs of water and a black magic spell book, she closed up her bag and shuffled her feet in a nervous manner

"um there was a local pub i passed while roaming the area, w-would you perhaps like to stop for a drink?"

it was obvious what she was trying to do; alcohol tended to loosen the filter in people, she wanted to have his guard lowered so she could get closer to him; a feeble attempt to maybe fix their relationship

leo wasn't much of a drinker and tended to stay away from substances that clouded his judgement but other variables came into factor, his body was aching from sleeping on the wooden floor, his mind was under constant stress about the upcoming war, his father figure possibility getting hurt in the process and being forced into
