Chapter 2: The Start of The Rebellion

he hadn't realized he had fallen asleep, when he woke up from his nap and went to look at himself in the mirror, he could see the tear-stained cheeks and red puffy eyes, he washed his face to hide any traces of his cries

as he dried up his face, his eyes caught the shimmer reflecting off of his locket, he glared at it before stuffing it away inside his uniform

being a paladin wasn't an easy job and leo was thankful for that, it was easier to get through the day when you had task's to focus on, 

some people had assumed owen gave him special perks due to his mentor and maternal figure but that couldn't be further from the truth, owen raised him with manners, integrity and hard work, he never gave leo any sort of special treatment and treated him like all his other students, and he wished the queen did the same when raising eric

queen liana was a kind-hearted woman who took good care of her kingdom, but failed to properly carry out her duties as a mother, her husband had died 6 weeks before she was due, when eric was born, liana had said herself that her son was "a spitting image of  her husband", many believed this was why the queen never wanted to upset him as he was the last thing she had that was left of her deceased husband 

in her grief she smothered her son and spoiled the boy rotten to his core, she gave him whatever he wanted and even went as far as to order her servants that eric was never to be denied anything he requested, being an only child to a royal family while also having a passive mother whom he could control, it wasn't surprising to see how eric turned out the way he did

as a child, eric was entitled and incredibly spoiled to his very core, prone to throwing tantrums and fits when not given his way, everyone in the castle dreaded his presence, they had hoped that eric would pass through his phase in childhood, but as he aged he only became worse

eric's temper and personality only seemed worse with each year he grew, he held very strong bigoted views against minorities and even resorted to violence when he wasn't given his way instead of his tantrums 

the night after cartman's 21 birthday, queen liana was found dead lying in her bedroom, her cause of death was premeditated murder by poison that was hidden in her wine, there was an investigation but no evidence or suspect was ever found, however some believed and even theorized that cartman had killed his mother so he could successfully take over the throne, as horrid as that sounded he was heartless enough to do that

it wasn't long until the kingdom started to suffer under his command, his first order as king was to have all of the financially aiding charities that his mother had previously established to be shut down, his reasoning?, that he felt that the people already had enough resources and wanted them all for himself

he also ordered for more than 70 percent of the food supply to be delivered to his castle rather then to the common folk, hung countless heads for people speaking up against him, forced citizens out of their homes by burning them down with fire torches, thrown innocent people in imprisonment for petty reasons and so much more

he was ruthless, and cunning and has proven on multiple occasions that he is willing to kill to get his way

everyone else was furious at him but chose to stay silent out of fear so leo decided to speak up for them, many times he would out-right call out cartman on his cruel commands and laws, but despite his bravery, those arguments led to nothing, cartman was the king and held the privilege and status over him, he couldn't rebel against him in the traditional way without risking his job, so he went about it with a different approach
