Living with Tommy wasn't very hard. He was constantly working on making music with his drums, and when he wasn't drumming, he was outside with Tish and Jesse. He tried to keep Tish and Jesse as busy as possible, mostly because he didn't want to disappoint Mick with such an important task. If he let Tish or Jesse get hurt on his watch, he'd never forgive himself.
Tommy often had Tish and Jesse in the pool or outside messing with something fun outside. When they had to stay inside because of rain or whatever else, Tommy would have something to do inside. He was actually teaching both Cobains how to play the drums. It was fun, but sometimes it was kind of hard.
Needless to say, Tommy, Tish, and Jesse were always busy and having some sort of fun. Truthfully, Tish was benefiting slightly from the constant work, but the problem was, it was just putting a bandaid over her mind. She wasn't getting past everything, she was just putting a cover over it, as if she was hiding it for later. Tommy didn't realize that he was just aiding in her attempt to cover up her feelings instead of learning to let them slowly get better.
Tish talked to Mick a few times on the phone, but for the most part, she tried to let him heal and get better on his own. She didn't want him getting stressed out because of her, and possibly losing some of his healing time because she made him think something was wrong. Every time she talked to him, she tried to tell him only good things, even if she really wanted to confide in him about certain things she had to deal with in her day to day life.
Anyhow, as she was making brownies for her, Tommy, and Jesse, she heard someone at the front door. She had no idea who would be at the door, considering her father would've called her to pick him up. She was worried that someone from Kurt's past decided to bother them, and she was not about to deal with that.
"Tommy! Please get the door! My hands are covered in chocolate!" Tish exclaimed, as she finished scooping the batter into the pan.
"Got it, babe!" He replied, causing her to chuckle.
Tommy had a habit of calling her "babe," but she didn't mind. It was just a thing, and she knew he meant nothing by it. He was a good friend to her, maybe even her best friend, and she enjoyed spending time with him. The only problem was, when they all went to bed, her mind because her prison. He couldn't save her from that, and she believed that she'd be stuck with it forever.
When Tommy had jogged past the kitchen, Tish just so happened to see Jesse following behind him. Jesse was like a little shadow for Tommy, but Tommy didn't mind. He liked having Jesse around. The funny thing was, sometimes when Tommy had the chance, he would dress Jesse like him, and it'd get a real laugh out of Jesse's mother.
"Mommy!" Jesse called, right as Tish put the brownies in the oven, and she accidentally burmed herself.
"Damn it!" She exclaimed, causing multiple hurried footsteps to the kitchen.
"What happened? You okay?" Tommy asked, as he rushed over to her.
"Jesse startled me, and I accidentally burned my arm on the oven." She replied, as Nikki turned on the cold water.
"I sorry, Mommy." Jesse said, making his mom smile.
"It's fine," She hissed in pain when Nikki pulled her arm under the cold water,"It was an accident." She told him, and he smiled.
"Let me go grab a wrap, I'll be right back." Tommy commented, as he quickly ran off.
"So, what made you come here?" She asked Nikki, trying to pull her mind off the burn.
"I'm getting the band back together," Nikki replied,"I'm heading to get Mick next, before we go find Vince. We're going to talk it out, and try to get him back."
"You think he'll come back?" She asked, causing the man to sigh.
"I don't know," Nikki answered,"but I think he will. He's going through some shit right now, and I think he needs us in his corner."
"What happened?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"His little girl passed away. Skylar was barely four." Nikki said, making Tish's heart clench.
She may not have known Vince, but no parent deserved to have their child die. No parent was meant to outlive their child.
"Got the wrap, babe, and some burn cream. I found it in the back of the medicine cabinet." Tommy commented, as he laid the supplies on the counter.
Nikki carefully dried her arm, before he put some burn cream on her arm, then wrapped it with the wrap Tommy had brought. The poor girl's arm was sore, but eventually it would get better since the guys had helped her get it fixed up real fast.
"We'll wait until the brownies are finished, then we'll leave." Nikki commented, and Tish nodded.
"Hey, Tommy," She got his attention,"Will you help Jesse pick out a toy to bring?" She asked,"He actually listens to you when you tell him he can only bring one." She added, causing the man to chuckle.
The moment they were gone, Tish turned to Nikki.
"I know I shouldn't ask," She sighed,"but do you know how Skylar died?" She asked, making Nikki sigh.
"Cancer," He replied,"I don't know specifics, but from what I heard on the news and stuff, that's what happened."
"Sorry for asking," She murmured,"I just haven't watched the news in a long time. They still sometimes mention Kurt and it hurts, and when they mention Courtney or Dave, I just get so angry. I can't stand watching the news."
"I get it," He said,"Don't worry about it."
He might not have completely understood, but he was definitely someone who could understand a lot of what she went through, especially with her mother...
