A whole day has passed.
He's finally coming to himself. He has never felt so warm, so peaceful.
Is this heaven? Is he dead?! He panics internally at the thought.
But then, he feels a warm, strong hand holding his, the touch inexplicably making him feel safe and secure.
Martin.
Chris shifts a little, giving his brother's hand a faint squeeze as he has regained the feeling in his fingers.
Martin, who's currently still sound asleep, spent the night before in his sleeping sack right next to Chris' hammock which happens to be fairly close to the ground. He has spent the entire night holding his brother's hand, keeping his promise of not leaving his side.
Martin's eyes fling open almost immediately as soon as he senses the feeble movement of his brother's hand. He quickly sits up in his sack and tilts his head over his brother's hammock, moving the piece of washcloth he used to keep his brother cool.
"Chris?" He looks down at his brother's face with hopeful eyes.
Chris moans. "...Martin," his voice is weak, barely audible, but it's all that Martin needs to hear.
The blue Kratt gasps softly, finally hearing a word coming out of his brother's mouth feeling like a blessing.
Oh, how much he missed his voice.
He reinforces the grip on his brother's hand. "C'mon, buddy. Wake up."
It takes several seconds before Chris starts to open his eyes.
He groans at the light filling the room irritating his eyes, squinting as a figure slowly shields his visage. His vision becomes clearer and clearer, until he's able to recognize the face above him.
Martin looks at his brother with glassy eyes. Chris looks at him for the longest time, before smiling weakly.
"Chris," a small cry escapes Martin's chest. Still holding his brother's good hand, he slowly caresses his face, looking down at him with tears of joy and relief, his lips shaking as though he wants to say anything and everything.
"Hey," Chris lets out weakly.
Unable to hold it back any longer, Martin lifts his brother into his arms and traps him in the longest hug he has ever given him.
"Chris!" he cries out, tears pouring down his face faster than he can imagine.
Chris gasps softly, and closes his eyes as he returns the hug the best way he can. "Martin." He buries his face in his brother's shoulder. He feels a light kiss on his head.
Their embrace awakens the rest of the crew.
Aviva and Koki are the first to wake up, hearing someone crying in the room.
Aviva yawns and rubs her eyes. "Argh, who's making that sound-" she stops as soon as she spots Martin hugging his now awakened brother, and gasps loudly. "KOKI!"
Koki groans as she sits up in her hammock. "What, yawns, is it Aviva?" She looks up at her friend with tired eyes, then looks towards what she's pointing at and gasps. "Chris is awake!"
Both girls bolt out of bed, magically no longer groggy, and circle the boys, feeling immensely happy at the sight.
Finally, the embrace comes to an end. Martin looks at his brother's face with watery eyes, sniffling with a smile on his face. Chris, still weak, has tears of his own blinding his vision.
Still snoring, the ginger guy slowly wakes up in turn. He lifts his sleepy head and looks around with half-opened eyelids. "What's happening?" He yawns, before making sense of what's going on.
