I'm what?

Kite felt odd, like he had just awoken from a long nap, the best nap of his life he'd admit. He ached, his body sore. He felt as if he was hanging, perhaps on a wire or rope? His legs felt as if he had run a marathon. His ribs as if he'd taken body blow after body blow after body blow like a boxer. His left arm felt like it had been worked out, like swinging a bat. His right just felt sore as all hell...his right?...He felt his right arm? Why could he feel his right arm? Why could he feel right now!?

Why was he alive? He died, he felt the claws render his head separate from his neck. So why was he breathing? At least, he thought he was breathing. The rhythm of his chest falling up and down felt all too real. An afterlife was never something Kite gave much thought to. Maybe this was it?...No, he feels alive...well, he feels like shit, but alive at least.

He hurts so bad right now, like he was hit by a truck, but he feels like a truck would be less painful than the cat ant. He remembers the encounter, he stepped in it's en, God, that en. It makes his skin crawl just thinking about it. In that moment he entered it, all Kite felt was terror. He felt as if he couldn't get away, that if he tried, he'd be struck down by the raging tsunami of power the ant held.

Kite remembered it vividly. He had done everything possible against a beast with such raw power. As long as Killua and Gon got away, he'd be fine. But even then, some worry was still in his heart. If that cat ant had wanted to, it no doubt could have caught up to the boys. Kite can only hope he kept the ant entertained for long enough.

He remembers screaming for Gon and Killua to run, but before they even could even really question Kite's decision or act, the ant swooped down, taking Kite's arm in the process of landing. Kite remembers how fast it was, like a blur. He's not even sure if Gon or Killua saw it until it landed. They probably didn't. He barely saw it.

The ant was strong, unfathomablely so, he didn't have a chance in hell of beating it, even on his best day, were he'd have both arms and the crappy clown would give him a roll of number 9, he still wouldn't stand a fraction of a chance. Ging could maybe do it, but Kite still had doubts that his master, perhaps even Netero, could best it, but he was no Ging, and he sure as shit was no Netero.

He remembers the ant's appearance. It was more human than most. On top of a head of wavy white hair was two cat ears, Kite would perhaps call them cute if he wasn't mauled by the same creature. It's eyes were a piercing red, cutting through the night and Kite's soul at the same time. It's attire was much more...unform than the ants he'd seen so far, it seemed almost royal. A navy overcoat, adorned with six gold buttons along the front. It wore orange shorts, with black lines on them.

'Were would an ant even find clothes like that in the NGL?' Kite could only wonder.

The ant had long socks, cut off a bit below the knee, the pattern and color of the socks matching the shorts. The ant also had blue shoes, the same navy as It's overcoat. They seemed like dress shoes, but Kite only ever got a good look when he was being kicked in the face.

He remembered the ant had a tail as well, catlike, just like It's ears and eyes, also sharing the same fur color. 'Probably a mix of a housecat and a human.' Kite mused, as a biologist, Kite was quite interested in the chimera ant's biology. The tail was about as long as the ant's leg, and it hurts like hell, Kite still feels the bruise on his cheek from where he caught a stray in their fight.

Kite groaned, tired of sitting idle. He can't take this anymore. He slowly opened his eyes, his eyelids heavy with sleep and fatigue. It took a smile moment for his eyes to adjust to the small light of the room. He was suspended in the air by something. As his eyes adjusted, he looked down at a pair of familiar pair of cat ears looking up at him with what only could be described as stars in their eyes.

"It worked!" The cat ant beamed, Kite won't deny that the voice graded his ears a bit. "I knyew this nyen thing can't be that hard after all~" The cat ant seemed to praise themselves. But Kite heard a very important piece of information, 'nyen?' He thought, 'What an odd vocal tick.' But that's not what he paid the most attention to. The cat ant knows how to use nen, and from the sound of it, it learned recently.

"Nyow, can you hear me, human?" The cat ant asks, tilting it's head with an intrigued expression.

"...yes..." Kite answered, there's no point in playing dead. Damn, his voice sounds like shit. He needs some water.

The cat ant jumped for joy. "Wonderful!" It beamed in an excitement that was a bit unnerving to Kite. "It was a success! Nyow everything is purrfect, I can experience that feeling again!"

'Feeling?' Kite thought, confused on what the hell is happening. "...Why am I...alive?" Kite asks, still confused. He's almost positive he died. He tilted his head slightly, trying to get a better view of his surroundings. He figures from the dirt walls and other small factors that he is in the chimera ant's ant hill. He notices his right arm, yeah its reattach. He isn't going crazy. He sees something connected to his right arm gleam slightly in the light. 'String?' He thought, intrigued. It seems like the kinda stuff you'd see on an old marionette or puppet.

The ant smiles, it's cat ears twitching. "Nya, I wanted to play with you again, so I brought you back. It felt so good when we fought, like a dream, and I wanna feel it again." The ant spoke in a tone of what Kite could only describe as fascination. This ant...revived him with it's nen? Kite heard it's words at the end, 'it felt like a dream?'

The cat ant looked at him in a way that reminded Kite of how a housecat looks at a cornered mouse. "I look forward to our next time, plaything~" Kite could tell that he was in for hell. He did die, and this was his hell, the cat ant his devil, his puppeteer, while Kite was it's puppet.

"Do you chimera ants have names?" Kite asked, his conscience slowly fading. The least he can know is the name of his puppet master.

The last thing Kite saw was a slight smile come across the feminine face of the ant. As the inky blackness of unconsciousness flooded his eyes, Kite heard only one thing...

"Neferpitou~"

And Kite was out.
