Kai hid his smirk as the plan started to play out in front of them. They had convinced the Air Force that Ro needed Optimus. It didn't take much convincing - they trusted Lennox, so they ultimately trusted Ro. Kai casually looked over to Galloway who didn't realize that the plane ride back to the base was taking less time than it should have been from New Jersey to Diego Garcia.
Kai closed his eyes just as the pilot came over the PA, "We've had an engine malfunction. We're gonna have to divert to SOCCENT." The other soldiers on board were all clued in on the new mission to get Optimus to Egypt, so the news of the "malfunction" wasn't news to them. Lennox was playing it up as Kai exhaled dramatically. "Flight master, let's lighten the load and prepare for bailout."
Galloway started to panic upon hearing that.
"All right, team, grab your chutes!" Kai got up and turned to keep himself from laughing. Epps elbowed his back to stop him from actually laughing because it was going to make him laugh. Kai had to bite his tongue as he walked off to grab one of the parachutes.
Epps and Kai looked over at Lennox as he put on the chute onto Galloway. "You familiar with the standard MC-4?" Lennox asked.
"Of course not!" Galloway said. "I've never jumped out of a perfectly good airplane before!" Lennox continued to help Galloway into his parachute. "Wait, is this really happening?"
"Yeah."
Epps and Kai looked away when Galloway looked in their direction. Kai bent down, snapping the chute between his legs. His shoulders were shaking as he silently laughed. The back of Epps' hand smacked him in the shoulder because Epps was starting to lose it.
Kai stood up straight again, shifting the weight of the chute on his back. He heard Galloway ask if Lennox planned this. Lennox played along with the pilot's words. Then the plane started to tilt, which really made Galloway nervous. Lennox played into that too. "That's not good. Come on." Lennox grabbed Galloway by the chute, pulling him towards the end of the plane. Kai and Epps stepped to the side to watch what went down.
Kai instantly started laughing when the dumbass pulled the chute open. It flung him out of the plane just like planned. "He say goodbye?" Epps asked when Lennox approached.
"No, he didn't even say goodbye." Lennox said.
"Dick." Kai took a deep breath. "Let's get to Egypt."

The five of them went on foot the rest of the way to the coords where the last star hit the horizon. Ro was leading the pack until she stopped. Simmons ran into her back when she stopped. Simmons lifted his head up from the satellite phone to see what Ro was looking at. "Found it." Ro commented.
