Seeing Danni get taken out that way, put everyone into overdrive. Tarra gave me directions from my back. Yelling "dive down!" or "pivot right!" I was surprised with how easy it was for me to follow her directions. I was able to see bits of lightning flashing overhead which told me Lincoln was attacking the leader of the dragons that attacked us. Danni and the other two smokey dragons were still underwater, and I feared that she could drown.

A panic took over my body. I had only known Danni for a week, but I knew she was too young to die. I wanted to save her, I needed to save her. I began to feel the sensation I get when I'm angry, but this time it was different. The pain I felt in my head escaped through my dragon's mouth in the form of a white hot blaze. I felt the built up energy leave my body in a physical shape, and dissolve into the water below.

Before I could come up with a plan to save Danni, I saw Lincoln on the back of the large dragon, diving downward. Lincoln was blasting him with large strikes of lightning. The beast seemed to be unconscious, and the further that he fell, the more his form dissipated. I followed them down, but before I could catch Lincoln, the water below began to bubble.

It came to a boil, and from the depths appeared a small glow. It grew larger and larger, to the point where my sensitive dragon eyes could barely stay open. Then in an instant, it was gone. For some reason, that gave me a sense of relief. As if everything was going to be fine.

Like a geyser, the ocean burst upward, revealing a beautiful feathered blue dragon. The beast grabbed Lincoln, flying over my head and resting him on my back. "Danni?" Tarra shouted. I soon realized that Danni had transformed. I didn't see her flying anymore, so I assumed she returned to human form and was now on my back.

For someone that made a big deal about not being a dragon, she sure was doing a lot of things to show otherwise. Tarra instructed me to land on the nearest island. I found one a few minutes later, and made my descent. Once everyone was safely on the ground, I closed the blade in my hand and soon returned to being human and gained control over my body again.

Tarra had created a few stone seats with her Magik, and they were all sitting together. They were trying to piece together what just happened.

"Merlin shouldn't have enough power to create apparitions yet! Especially not ones that can physically interact with the world!" Tarra said. Somehow, I hadn't put the two together yet. That meant that the man that killed my mother was Merlin. I was more prepared than ever to get my revenge.

"I'm a bit more concerned with Danni shifting? Nobody else?" Lincoln said. After a brief moment of surprise from everyone, seeing as Lincoln had barely spoken since we left, the attention was pointed towards Danni.

Danni realized she needed to give an explanation. "I don't know what happened. The apparition knocked me off Damien's back, and I hit the water. I remember seeing two of the smoky dragons diving in after me. They grabbed me, and just as I was about to pass out I heard a voice. Something about it not being my time, which totally isn't ominous. What felt like a warm blanket covered me, and then I shifted. How is this even possible?"

Everyone looked at me, as if I would know something. "I don't know why you're looking at me! I can barely create a campfire. You guys are the Magik experts. Look, let's just camp here for the night. We can't have much further to go right? We can just ask the Second Dragons tomorrow when we see them."

"Hah! As if they would take time out of their special politics to pay attention to us. They have bigger problems to deal with. But yeah, I'm sure someone would be able to help us. Let's just worry about it tomorrow." Tarra apparently had reservations about the Second Dragons.

That night I actually slept well. I dreamt of being in full control of my dragon form, and Danni flying next to me in hers. I hadn't put too much thought towards her, aside from being grateful she was alive. But I felt a draw to her. As if she was someone I had been waiting for.

I was glad to have these new friends. Losing my mom that way... It was too much. But this journey we were on together was a great distraction, and I had a feeling that if I truly needed them, they would be there for me.

The next day was fairly uneventful. We spent hours flying through the arctic, heading further and further north. I was surprised I hadn't gotten tired, or at least my dragon hadn't. It was also weird controlling my dragon that way. We aren't separate beings, but in these moments it felt that way. I felt disconnected. I hoped I would soon have full control, and not need the blade anymore. It didn't feel natural.

Tarra had instructed me that once we got close, my dragon's eyes would be able to see lights coming from the frozen tundra. Dracolis displays bright lights that are on a frequency that humans can't see, to protect it from humans. And she was right. I could faintly make out what seemed like northern lights coming from the ground in the horizon.

Once we arrived, I landed on the ice. There was no city in sight, so I wasn't sure what she was talking about. Before I could come to the obvious conclusion, Tarra placed her palms on the ice. It cracked apart, widening to about the width of a car. Stairs appeared, forming themselves out of the ice.

"Welcome to Dracolis boys. You better behave." Tarra said. She started down the stairs, and Danni followed.

I went to follow, and Lincoln grabbed my arm. "Hey dude. I know I've been a little weird these last few days. I just got some... strange information from my mom. But hey, if you need to talk to me, I'm here. Losing a parent isn't easy Damien..." He trailed off.

I think him letting me know he was there for me, was his way of also making sure I was there for him. "Of course man, and I'm here for you too. If I can do anything, just tell me." He nodded his head in agreement, and we started down the stairs.
