"oh hey alph'"
"Hi! So uh Frisk ex-explained the whole thing with...uh..."
"i know. come with me, i'll show you. it's nice to have a qualified person working on this"

Sans leads us back to his basement, opens it, and Chara is still there. But I see the flower.

"oh hey flowey"
"Ah! Y-You scared me!"
"whoops"

The flower, Flowey I guess, notices me and Alphys. They immediately go into the ground

"W-What was that..?"
"don't worry alph'. just a talking flowey"
"W-What?!"

Sans ignores us and shows Alphys Chara's comatose body. Now there seems to be this weird machine connected to them.

"H-How are they even alive..?"
"huh?"
"Their soul is in such a tiny fragment, it'd be impossible to live on that"
"i dunno. they've had that since i first checked. maybe humans work differently"

Looking at the device I can see how. Their red soul has only a tiny sliver left.

"actually it looks bigger than it originally was"
"It was smaller?!"
"pretty sure"
"That's odd...all my human textbooks say that if you have less than half your soul you can't survive..."
"i mean they were tossed into the dump for a reason"
"I guess...other than the soul issue you seem to have properly taken care of all of their wounds from Undyne's attacks"
"heh, yeah that took a while to sort through"
"Anyway, Sans how did you figure out all of this, about that spirit and stuff?"
"long story. begins with the last royal scientist..."

Sans trails up. Note to self: don't bring up his past/the old royal scientist.

It turns to silence. Alphys finally breaks it after a few minutes.

"So...they seem to be stable...ish... Have you seen any signs of life yet?"
"well they did say fragments of sentences"
"What?! Humans must be REALLY different from monsters"
"i mean we are literally just magic"
"True...do you mind telling me what they had said?"
"all i heard was 'help, demon, sans, frisk', not really anything to relevant"
"We theorized it was their last words. It helped us determine their location before the attack too" I add, Alphys forgot I'm there I suppose since she jumped when I started talking.
"That makes sense"

Underneath the image of their soul, there seems to be a heartbeat monitor. It was beeping very slowly a few seconds ago but when I started talking it picked up. Sans seems to notice this.

"huh. the soul beat monitor went up. this normal alph'?"
"That's the normal soulbeat of a human according to the textbooks...around 60-70 a minute. What was it previously?"
"'round 20-30"
"That is a really large increase!"
"Hey looks, their soul is growing more!" I say, enthusiastically.

Before it was the size of my finger, but now it's almost half complete again.

"that definitely doesn't look normal"
"I think the changes took place while Frisk was speaking"
"Yeah, as soon as I started speaking, their soul grew and their soulbeat picked up to normal"

The soul grows to half

"maybe addressing them directly would help?"

I walk over to Chara. Their body looks much more lively than it did before

"Chara? Can you hear me? It's Frisk, remember me?"

The soul grows more

"Are you there? Chara?"

The soul is almost whole

"yep. really is working i suppose. who knee that was the secret to human recovery"

Then we hear from above footsteps, and Undyne's VERY loud voice

"Sans! Alphys! I have gifts for Papyrus, can one of you help me get them to him?"
"c'mon. we can't let undyne know about this. you guys go ahead, i'll be a sec"
