Avanna's P.O.V:
Was I really expecting some sort of a welcoming or warm gesture from Joziah?
As much as I hate to admit it-I was expecting him to atleast smile ..?
I didn't get a smile. Nor a warm gesture. Nothing. The owner of those piercing silver eyes was none other than the youngest of my four brothers. The moment he made eye contact with me his face turned blank. His chilling eyes stared holes into me.
Ouch.
No no what did I do to make him mad?Nah Avanna don't think about it. Ugh
Grinch.
Yeah that's it, let's label him as a grinch.
"So she's awake", He muttered staring down at me. Then he rolled his eyes.
Stood up straight. No longer in a leaning position."Welcome to hell ", it was just a whisper but I caught it-no doubt meant for only me to hear. I shivered.
Hell...?
The Grinch then left not caring that the door rattled with the extra force he used upon it. It made another shiver to run down my spine.
Gosh what's it to him?
"Octavian"
My head automatically turned, eyes widening as they made direct contact with icy blue ones. My eldest brother held my gaze as he nodded towards Octavian, probably urging him to leave, It felt more of an order then a request.
Exhaling loudly, Octavian, muttering some incoherent words-probably curse words-left the room. Not so loudly. Yeah right. Now it was just me and the most intimidating man on earth in the room. I shivered at the thought.
Amadeo pulled the chair closer to my bed, sitting down with ease as he adjusted his suit coat. He held my gaze throughout. With those icy blue eyes of his, I felt as if he could see through me. Thank god humans can't read minds.
"Ava, how are you feeling?" Amadeo clasped his hands, looking expectantly towards me. If it weren't for his question I would've mistaken him for a business man ready to make a deal.
"Better" My voice came out a bit scratchy, probably because I just woke up. I gazed up at him, taking in his features. Even though he was sitting he still looked quite well gifted in terms of height. His jet black hair neatly trimmed and settled well, His properly ironed suit. Everything about him was well maintained. Professional.
I took a shuddering breath as I mentally prepared myself for the dreaded question that I had to ask.
"H-How...What happened to me?" The words came out in a whisper. I was too afraid to know.
"You slipped from the roof".
Inhaling sharply, I tightened my hands on the sheets. Blinking my eyes as they filled up with unshed tears.
"It was accidental, don't panic. None of it was anyone's fault."
"What about our parents?" Surely they must've known.
They must've payed me a visit too right?
This time his face did soften.
"They aren't in the picture." Amadeo sighed as he paused a bit to see my reaction, He saw the longing in my eyes. More then anything I wanted to know about my parents. I didn't want brief replies. I wanted to know everything. He continued once he was sure that I wasn't about to have another breakdown.
