finding out

Elena's hurriedly called me multiple times in the span of one minute. She knows Damon and I are close, so that I too could be in danger.

I pick up the phone "Elena? what is it?" I question she sounds panicked "Y/N are you with Damon!?" I quickly look up at Damon to see if he heard I mouth a sorry to him and move ahead of him "why whats wrong? are you okay you sound scared" I get more anxious waiting for her response "if your with Damon get away from him now! meet me at the house I'll explain everything I can't on the phone he might be listening" I roll my eyes "he can't hear Elena I'm not standing anywhere near him" I can hear muffled cries on the other end "please- just come home I need you to come home" I sigh feeling anxious "of course I'll be right there" I hang up and walk back over to damon.

"Hey um sorry I need to get going Elena needs to talk to me... it sounded important" I touch his arm slightly and go to walk away I hear him say "I thought I could have sworn I heard my name" he said curiously "look Damon when I find out I'll let you know okay I gotta go" I leave him at the grill.

I arrive home and see Elena arguing with Stefan on the front porch. I quickly run up to them, as Elena sees me she quickly pushes past Stefan and hugs me "Oh thank god" she breathes out "what's going on Elena?" I hold her back and we walk up the stairs past Stefan.

"I'm telling her Stefan I have to" she said angrily "tell Damon to stay away from her" she says bitterly. I feel completely lost and in the dark I just want to know what's happening. I look over at Stefan who says "I don't know how he will react Elena, he really likes Y/N... I don't want him to lash out I think it's best if for now we don't tell him she knows" Elena rushes me inside ignoring Stefan. she pulls me up the stairs and into her room, she slams the door and runs her hands through her hair. "please Elena tell me what's happening I need to know I'm going crazy!" I sit down on her bed waiting for her to finally say something.

"Stefan and Damon they are... vampires" she said with a straight face. I look at her confused "Elena are you-" she interrupts me "before you say anything let me show you, I took photos and everything. I don't say anything as she sits down and shows me her laptop screen

"you know how I said Stefan's been acting strange, the way his face changed, the way Damon got hurt and we saw it but there was no cut! nothing" she continues ranting as she pulls up an article "this look it's Stefan! look at the date Y/N" I look at the article and the date from years and years ago "what the..." I trail off as she continues "not just that but remeber at the founders party and they told us the other people with the same names were 'the original salvatore brothers' the dates match up it wasn't the original brothers it was them" she said showing me the numerous pictures she had taken.

I get up and run my hands through my hair "it all has to be coincidental" I say trying to be reasonable "I thought that too until I went to Stefan's house and I demanded he tell me... and he did Y/N" she cried "he showd me! his face changed his eyes they... God they were red and he had fangs" I go over to her and pull her in "it's okay" I hold her head "we will deal with it" I say unsure of myself. I had no idea what to do with this information. I was scared. I was sad. I really liked damon but this was scary.

"please Y/N stay away from damon" she cried "I don't want him to hurt you" she brought her knees up to her chest. "I'll stay away Elena but he will know something is up if I completely try and cut him off" She breathed heavily as I sit with her.

I'm washing up from dinner as i hear a knock at the door, I put the teatowel down and head over to the door but Elena is already there I saw her open the door and then quickly try and shut it but the other person pushed it open. When the door was fully open I could see the person was damon, my heart dropped and I heard Elena speak "Get out!" she yelled once again trying to close the door. Damon walks in and notices my scared face "you're scared of me..?" I could see it click in his mind as he suddenly says "I'm going to go out on a whim here and say Stefan finally fessed up" he looked back at Elena and then to me.

"Damon.. jus-" he interrupts me "just what hmm? I'm not going to kill you or Elena just yet that's not what I'm here for" he smirks and looks at Elena "where's Stefan?" Elena backs up from him "I don't know" Damon rolls his eyes before looking back to me "wanna go for a walk Y/N?" he already knew the answer but he didn't know what else to say to her, he couldn't stand the look on her face. "n-" I was once again interrupted by Damon appearing right in front of my face. I gasp and jump back before I could say anything he grabbed onto me and left with vamp speed.

Elena's eyes widened as she yelled out my name "Y/N!" she rushed outside and couldn't see us anywhere, she got her phone and rang Stefan.

it felt like seconds. he grabbed me and it's like we teleported here. I could tell it was Damon's room, I just could it suited him. He let me go "Y/N-" he went to talk "No- no way Damon what the hell was that!" I yell at him "how did we get here so quickly" I breathe heavy and fast looking around "Y/N look I know this is crazy but I had to talk to you just us he walks over and grabs my hands and looks into my eyes, I couldn't have Elena scaring you" I look into his eyes for a second before snatching my hands away from his "start explaining" I say frowning at him. He leads me to his bed and gestures for me to sit down with him "I'll tell you anything you want to know"

after a few hours of talking and arguing, I was able to understand a bit more, it started feeling more real and not like I was dreaming. I heard about Katherine and how she looks the same as Elena, she changed Stefan and Damon compelled them to love her and then ultimately died for her becoming vampires themselves. I heard about the fire at the church and the tomb, I heard about Stefan forcing Damon to be a vampire, I heard about all the tricks and things vampires can do. but the one thing that i didnt expect to hurt, hurt more than i thought, i heard damon was still searching for the tomb, for katherine. I heard enough.

"that's alot to take in..." I say holding my head in my hands. "I know" he replies I look up at him "I won't tell anyone, I can't promise the same for Elena though" I sigh "I need to go though, you know she's probably worried sick" I look to him and he nods "I know ill let you go then" he gets up and walks me to the door "Bye y/n" I don't say anything back, I just nod to him and walk down their drive.

My eyes well with tears as I breathe heavy thinking about everything, not that damon was a vampire but that he was still in love with a girl from 1864 who looked just like Elena... I think about all of the things I've done with him, the flirting- if you can even call it that- was just a distraction until he finds a way to get katherine back.

I just run and keep running until I can't any more.
