football game

The school bell rang signalling the end of the day. As everyone stood up Mr Tanner yelled out "Don't forget to come and support the football team tonight at the game!" everyone scattered out, I already knew about the game, Stefan was playing so Elena was definitely going which meant I probably was going too. who knows maybe Damon would come and see his brother play- I stop myself from thinking about it any further as I meet up with Elena and her friends. "Hey guys" I greet them and smile Bonnie hugged me and Caroline spike "Hey girl, how was class" I smile "same old class with Mr tanner" we all laugh

As we are walking Caroline continues "What are you wearing tonight y/n and Elena seeing as you both aren't coming as cheerleaders" she said eyeing Elena as she just quit the team "I don't know guys, what's your suggestion" I knew she wanted a specific answer because that's why she asked in the first place "I know you guys won't actually be doing the cheer dance like Bonnie and I but I think it would be fun if we all came in cheerleader outfits!" she says happily "Oh! I don't think I have one sorr-" she interrupts me "of course not that's why I got you this one!" she says happily pulling it out of her bag. I look surprised as Elena and Bonnie both give me a 'sorry' look.

She hands it to me "Elena you just wear the one you already have! perfect! see you tonight ladies" she says as she parted ways with us. Bonnie, Elena and I all laugh, that was Caroline for you "sorry y/n you're getting dragged into it" Bonnie laughs lightly "It's okay Bonnie I don't mind making Caroline happy for a night, I know she takes these games seriously"

Bonnie hugs Elena and i goodbye as we go our separate ways to get ready for the night ahead.

I go to my room and flop down on my bed I only had just over an hour to get ready, i normally wouldn't put much effort into what I would wear but since being adopted into Elena's friendship group I want to make them happy and if that means wearing a cheer costume for Caroline I'd dot it.

I stand up and put it on admiring myself in it, I think to myself i really hope damon doesn't show up now this is embarrassing I smile thinking about him teasing me about wearing it.

I brush my hair and straighten it out as I put on my usual make-up. foundation, fill in my eyebrows, mascara, blush and a little bit of eye-liner and lip gloss. I look at myself one last time before going downstairs and meeting Elena who was dressed the same.

"ready to go already?" I smile at her "Stefan's picking me up, do you want a lift?" I look upstairs and say "I'll just walk with Jeremy" Elena interjects "he left early actually I'm guessing to be with Vicki rather than watch the game" I can see her roll her eyes "sure I'll just come with you and Stefan then" I smile. just then the door knocks, Elena answers and it's Stefan. He looked surprised at our outfits "Long story" Elena says before ushering him outside, I follow behind them. Stefan holds Elena's hand and it makes me envy them, they are so cute. I want something like that.

We arrive and Elena speaks to me "Hey I'm gonna quickly go see Stefan warm up before I join you guys Caroline should be around here somewhere!" she runs off with Stefan.

I walk around trying to find Jeremy just as I spot him I hear a voice "Well look at this sight" it was Tyler. "What do you want Tyler" I say walking past him "don't walk away from me I'm just admiring the veiw" I look at him with disgust "what your boyfriends not around to come to your rescue this time?" I try and shove him off but he pulls me closer to him. I can smell the alcohol on him. I can't believe he would drink before an important game like this. "Tyler let go of me!" I feel his hands travel down my hips to my ass and he holds it.

"Get the hell away from my cousin" I hear Jeremy yell and pull Tyler off of me "Now you've done it you little punk" Tyler says aggressively as he launches forward to attack Jeremy. I jump forward and try and stop Tyler I hold onto his arm and try to pull him back but he pushes me hard onto the ground.

I feel someone quickly come to my aid, I recognised his touch. it was damon. "Hey, hey you're okay" he says as he pulls me up. I look to him and then quickly to Tyler who was on top of Jeremy with a broken glass bottle "Damon please help" I yell and point to Jeremy. He rushes over and rips Tyler off of him "Tyler stop it" I hear him yell. Tyler wings the bottle at damon and I see him cut his hand.

I rush over to Jeremy who was getting off the ground "I'm fine" he says trying to push me off. Elena comes rushing over "what the hell is happening Jeremy are you okay" she gets down to his level and tends to him.

I stand up and quickly make my way to damon. "Damon show me your hand" I try and grab his hand but he holds it away from me "it's fine Y/N!" he says "no is it deep show me" he finally gives his hand to me and it is unscathed, I look in confusion "what..." I look all over his hand trying to find something "it didn't get me I'm fine" he dusts his hands off onto his shirt "see its all good" he puts a hand on my head to comfort me "I swear I saw it.." I hear Elena "y/n are you okay I heard what happened with Tyler, did he hurt you she looked all around me" I step back from damon and usher her to stop "I'm fine Elena stop worrying" Damon looked curiously "what happened with Tyler?" I bite the inside of my cheek not wanting to be the one to say it.

"I'm surprised you weren't there" Elena said "wherever Y/N is you seem to follow" she seemed a little bit annoyed. Damon just smirked "go watch Stefan play football" he put his hands up in the air "go team" she scoffs "message me if you need me" she holds onto my arms before heading towards the oval.

I see the coach yelling at Tyler and everyone that was crowded around scattered to the oval.

"Y/N what happened before I got there" he looked at me concerned. "I was looking for Jeremy and Tyler found me first.." I look down continuing "he was being gross, he'd obviously been drinking.. he grabbed me when I tried to leave" I saw Damon shift waiting for me to say more "he pulled me into him and he grabbed my ass" I rub my arm and look up to Damon he looked really mad "that's when Jeremy came over and ripped him off of me and you know the rest..." I trail off.

I could see it in his eyes he was mad. I looked behind me and could see he was looking at Tyler who was still getting scolded by the couch. He started walking in that direction but I quickly went in front of him "Damon! please dont" he kept walking.
I grabbed his arms "Damon!" I yell and go infront of him again this time grabbing his face.

I look into his eyes "please" I repeat. He stops and looks at me "Y/N if he ever so much as looks at you again." he looks into my eyes and cups my face "I will kill him."

I just lean forward and hug him tightly. He holds me back after a few seconds. This was our first proper hug.
