Contentment with predestination

When trying to understand destiny, it is best not to overthink. It is best not to try to understand everything from the first letter to the last full stop at the very end of the sentence. In fact, the moment of clarity comes when you accept the limitations of your human mind and embrace instead the comfort found in turning yourself over to Allah.

Yes, turning yourself over.

Have you ever tried letting go? Letting go of the illusion that, unless you figure out every single event in your life and comprehend fully, without a shred of a doubt, every last thing that ever happened to you, you will be deprived of peace of mind. Peace of mind does not come from knowing the exact reason behind something. Peace of mind comes from acceptance, from moving on, from seizing not just the day but the moment, every moment, and then letting go of the moment so that you can hold on to the next one.

It's not easy. It's easy to write about it, but when it comes to doing, we tend to spend our mental energy in working out the "whys", "ifs" and "buts" of life. We are not content until we have something to worry about. After all, worrying gives us something to do. But it doesn't get us anywhere.

When your destination is Paradise, and the host waiting to greet you once you get there is none other than Allah Himself-when you realise this, internalise this, and break up the journey into baby steps, then you take the steps forward, that is when you stop overthinking. You can't overthink when you are busy doing.

As for destiny? What will come will come, and we will deal with it when it does. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
