Aiden
They were on the lookout for any clue as to where Annette might be. As soon as Aiden had heard what Arlen said , he told him that Annette had seen him last night and had run away the moment she saw him.
A few guards of Arlen and some royal guards were with them. It was still early morning but the atmosphere was tense.
They had been riding for a while and still had no clue where she might have gone. Now they were riding along the woods just looking for some clues .
Suddenly a knight shouted ,
"Isn't that her highness's horse?"
Everyone immediately rushed into the direction the knight had pointed.
And sure enough , it was her horse. Tied to a tree , bending down to eat something from the ground , with no sign of its owner anywhere near.
There were some footsteps that trailed down a steep hill and at the bottom were two figures.
Annette
She had met Jack on her run. He had been down a hill and she had gone down after him after tying her horse.
They had spent the entire time talking. Annette told him about the events of last night.
"It just feels so stupid. I can't believe I saw him and then I just ran away. This is so sad embarrassing.I'm such a coward!"
She cried out as she hid her face in her hands.
"You are not a coward Annette."
Jack assured her.
"If I wasn't , then why did you guys go to such lengths to keep me from finding out?"
Her brows furrowed.
"Because , we wanted you to be at ease and comfortable. That means that we didn't want to see you uneasy or awkward at all times. Do you get it now?"
She kept being skeptical and Jack sighed at last. It was quiet for a while as they both didn't say anything else and just enjoyed the nature.
"I think I'm still not over him."
Annette whispered slowly , gazing up at the trees , she thought her whispers were unheard but Jack answered.
"I think you shouldn't be so hard on yourself in this matter."
They were both sitting with their backs against opposite trees , facing each other.
Annette stood up and walked towards him , holding out her hand for him to stand.
"Let's go back , I'm tired and I think there might be a commotion back home."
Jack smiled and was about to take her hand until he saw something behind her ....,
and suddenly , he pulled the outstretched hand in front of him with all his might
