Ren was following the house rules. He was coming in before curfew, he was being courteous and punctual. He was yes ma'aming and no sir'ing. Anything he could do to get the phone back and then the car back. It worked. He had his phone, he had his car and it was time to pick his friends up and give them a ride to school. It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm day. A beautiful day to be a boy with a car picking up a girl or two to give them a ride to school.

Ren picked up Daisy and went to pick up Magdalena at The Shepherd's House. Her mom said she was already on the way to school. She told them to try Sienna's house. She usually stopped there first. Ren would give her a ride too. He stopped at Sienna's house.

Magdalena was waiting on Sienna. Sienna was running late. Sienna was never late. They waited five more minutes.

"Maybe she got tied up at the daycare," said Daisy.

"I can't get any more tardies," said Ren. "I am one away from Saturday school."

"Ok," said Magdalena who knew Sienna did not like to be late and would understand. "Let me write her a note."

The note said:

Sienna,

I waited but didn't want to be late. Caught a ride with Ren. See you at school.

Magdalena

"Magdalena, on the way, show us where the creep lives," said Daisy.

Magdalena showed them the house, but the creep was not at home, or at least not at the window. They drove by slowly. They looked and looked hard, but no creep.

"Maybe he's given up," said Daisy, "or moved."

"Maybe," said Magdalena.

"Still think it's your dad?" asked Daisy.

"No," said Magdalena, "That was crazy thinking, I guess."

"Good," said Daisy.

As they rode by, Randall Michael Wall saw his opportunity. Sienna was alone, not with Magdalena.

"Payback's a bitch," he said out loud as he got his car keys.
