I was returning home at 4 pm. My one and only friend Rebecca was walking beside me, talking about how her crush came to her work and showed recognition to her. Rebecca works at the Museum of Natural History. She's a receptionist there. She's quite older than me......like about 18 years older than me. She's 34 and well....I'm 16. But we still get along with each other. We met at the museum once, where she was guiding our group from school in the museum. There, I had got exquisite and authentic information about Sacajawea from her. Then, when we got a break and we were allowed to roam around ourselves, I joined her at the reception where we had a nice chat about her writing book about Sacajawea . From then on, we became friends. And now, we have known SO much about each other, that we'e turned into B.F.Fs.
Anyways, now we were heading home. I was sipping Frappaccino which I had bought from Starbucks. She brought her typical, old fashioned Cafe-Latte....I mean who drinks that now-a-days? I do.
L O L.
See? That's how I am. I'm kinda quirky.
Anyways, when we came up to the Museum of Natural History, we bid each other goodbye. She went into the museum, and I crossed the street, perpendicular to the museum, and I started walking my way home.
"Hey Joker!" I turned around. I saw Sacmis. 'Missy'. Everyone was to call her 'Missy'. Bitch. She was the queen bee at school. There she was calling out to me, coming with her boy friend. I had a crush on that guy.....but now he's just an okay sort of guy to me.
"Hey Sacmis. Want anything?" I said. She hated being called by her real name. I loved it. She cast me glare.
" As a matter of fact, sweetheart, I've something to tell you. You know, we, that is my besties and I have decided that we're going to have a dance at school." she said.
"What have I got to do anything with that?"
"We need a joker..obviously. Try to dress up nice. No black colors please! They just make me vomit! Just like the one you're wearing at the moment. Okay? Try something pink....though it's like insulting that colour...."
"What if I don't want to come?"
"We'll see about that sweetheart! and oh! By the way! Get yourself a date please. We're not allowing 'stags'."
"I'll see if I want to come, my little pony!! Do you girls still watch that show? Or do you girls watch 'Barbie'? Huh? Because I guess I moved on from that....a long time ago!!! Well, now that I think of it, I don't even remember watching that!! Gods!"
"Actually hun, we don't watch cartoons. We are mature enough to-"
"To watch 'House' thinking it's a doctor's chick lit book, converted into a show!" I said walking my way back home, laughing at my own stupid joke.
I'm a person like that. I laugh at my own joke. So half the time people are just staring at me, not knowing what to do while I'm rolling on the floor laughing my ass off! L.O.L! hehe!
Anyways, I reached home, and my step dad opened the door.
"Hey! Adriane! Had a nice day?"
"Yeah yeah. It was awesome. People looked at me as if I was crazy - again. Sacmis asked me to bring in a date on the upcoming prom night - again. My crush acted as if I wasn't even in the room - again. So my life was just AWESOME..... Thanks for asking me about it...so I could revive the beautiful, memorable moments of my life, and feel such amazingly heart broken in my life - again. Just thanks."I spat in one breath.
"That's no way to talk to your dad, Adriane." my mom shouted from the kitchen.
"That may be no way I should talk to my dad like that, but there's a slight problem. He's my step-dad. Not exactly my 'dad'." I replied, walking straight into the room, Nick and I shared.
"Heya Nick." I called out when I saw him sitting by the window with his ice hockey stick.
"Hey Rian." He mumbled.
"Hey! Wha- I see.....Dad. Right?"
He nodded.
"Give him some time....he's having hard life out there w-"
"-aiting for technology to catch up."I heard dad's voice from the living room.
We ran out.
"Hey dad! So, can I come over anytime soon?" I asked him, while giving him a hug.
"I'm...I'm so sorry Adriane. Nick. Sorry."He shook his head and left.
Nick ran inside, obviously angry. I just stood there....confused.
"What -?" I looked at mom. She didn't say anything.
My step-dad answered instead.
"You're dad's jobless. Again. "
