ELENA Thursday, October 07 5:10 a.m.
"Elena!" "Elena!" i heard my mother shouting my name from outside my room door. I didn't bother to answer, I just got up and went straight to the bathroom.
After doing my morning routine and taking a shower I got dressed and went straight to the kitchen where my breakfast was on the counter waiting for me.
I looked at the time and realized that it was 5 minutes to 7 which meant I needed to leave now if i wanted to reach school early.
I attend Mount Alvernia High School and I'm in sixth form (12 grade)
"Elena your lunch money is on the glass table in the living room" My dad informed me.
"Thanks daddy, I'm leaving now"
"have a good day sweetheart"
And I just left right after.
As I was walking in my community Albion Lane I saw my cousin Abby leaving for school as well. She attends St. James High school. I saw when she got in a white axio and I just pretended like I didn't see.
Mi noh bizniz wid nbdy bizniz.
"Girl it look like you affi go get wah car man too" the girl in my head said laughing but I didn't find that funny
The best thing was I didn't need to take any taxi to get to school because it's like a 20 minute walk on a good day and a hour walk on a bad day but i was feeling good this morning
As I was half way on the hill I heard the national Anthem start to play
"Mi cyah bada ino mmchtt" I said to myself because I had to stop in the sun with my hands at my side. If it was under different circumstances I would've kept walking
I saw the lower school girls continuing to walk and I just laughed to myself because I know they'll get in trouble for that but who ago tell them fi stop? Caz anoh mi fi sure
After the national anthem was finished I hurried to get through the gate because I was now 10 minutes late.
My first class is Accounting and I was so excited mainly because I wanted to be an Accountant.
I was passing a group of 10 grade girls and I over heard one asking her friends if they were attending Jerkfest this year.
"yes girl that nah miss mi worst how mi hear seh Bayka ago di deh" one girl said with a lot of excitement in her voice and they all started to talk about what they were going to wear.
It fi jhus cancel pan uno mmcht
I entered the class and I saw my bestfriend at the front and I went over to her and hugged her placing a subtle kiss on her cheek
"Yaw batty gyal my girl" she asked grinning and I just shake my head smiling Taking a seat next to her she whispered "Mi wah talk to you bout something lunch time yer"
I nodded turning around to face the board since Mrs. Daley has entered the classroom
"Good morning Ladies, please take out your homework that I gave yesterday on the Manufacturing Account " Mrs. Daley said
I glanced over at Marissa silently asking if she had done the homework but she shook her head
None of us remembered to do the homework
"What to do" Marissa said loud enough for the whole class to hear

10:30 a.m.
The bell rang indicating that it was lunch time.
Marissa and I got up and made our way to the cafeteria to get lunch After about 10 minutes in the lunch line we finally made our way to sit under the tree and eat our lunch
"What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked my bestfriend taking a bite of my burger
"You know Jaheem from over Cornwall wah inna 12 grade?" she asked "Be specific i know alot of Jaheem's" I said
"The one from Key club" she said "Oh yes why" I asked "him ask fi yuh number seh him want yuh" she said laughing "tell him I'm not interested and don't give him my number" I said nonchalantly
I know better than to date a Cornwall boy. Not finna have me crying late at nights Uhhh Uhhh.
"Girl which class we have after th-" she was about to ask then the bell rang
"Maths" We then got up and headed to our separate maths class
"Meet me at the big tree after school" Marissa shouted entering her class
I didn't bother to answer I just entered mine

2:30 p.m.
Marrisa and I were walking together down the hill when a Cornwallion stopped right infront her asking for her number
Poor soul.
She knew better than to date a cornwall boy so she hissed her teeth and walked around him.
"Mi noh know y a me him choose fi wah tek fi ediat" she said through gritted teeth and I couldn't do anything but laugh
"And look pan him to noh him look like dem nah feed him" she said again "Some man need fi rlly take a good look pan themself before them approach certain girls caz Awah dat"
We were almost near the library and she was still talking about the boy asking for her number so I kinda tuned her out as I looked over in the library at the statue of Marcus Garvey.
I remembered when it was summer time and we used to do summer school by the library That's how I met Marissa
"too bad uno noh allowed over deh inna uno uniform girl" my subconscious said
Marrisa lives in Salt Spring so I followed her to her taxi stand and waited for her to get a taxi then I left.
On my way home I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket so I took it out and saw that my mother was calling so I called her back
"hello mommy"
I heard shuffling in the background before she answered
"How far are you sweetheart"
"I'm 5 minutes away from the house why?"
"Nothing hunny I just wanted to know if you were close" and with that she ended the call
"weird" I thought to myself but I just brushed it off and continued my journey
