"Alex is the chosen one?" Rufus sat down beside Phoebus as the shock drained all the power from his legs.

"We can't be sure, this clothing is from humanity's earliest period. This woman must have lived thousands of years ago. Let me try to decipher the markings first before we jump to any rash conclusions," Aurelia swiftly opened and operated through the Tongues of Euangelion.

"Lord Castus warned me to keep an eye on her while keeping her away from this prophecy. He also said -"

"All the same, let's first get this translated?" his sister's words interrupted while her eyes instructed him to sit down next to Rufus. Aurelia directed and delegated while doing most of the heavy lifting, and two hours later they had finally deciphered the four verses:

Through this bloodline, you gained your power

And much more power since then

But arrogant ones too have an hour

And with the same bloodline, yours will end.

Aurelia read it aloud and surmised that the woman in the picture must have been the first human who consumed Diabolus' virus. She read the final verse back, "...and with the same bloodline, yours will end."

Phoebus remained silent and looked intently at Aurelia while waiting for her to catch on as she read the final verse for the third time: "...this bloodline...will end." Aurelia looked up, "Diabolus' defeat goes hand in hand with the end of the bloodline that started it all," she maintained eye contact with Phoebus who sat motionless.

Rufus' eyebrows pulled into a confused arch.

"Don't you remember the story? About the first human to consume the virus?"

"Vaguely. It wasn't required for our Orientation. We only had to study the overview of the curse's composition and its effect on humanity."

"Well," Aurelia exhaled heavily, "sometime after the Rider's Rebellion, the newly self-titled Lord of Stridor summoned another who had also been a former Rider in the King's guard - Callidus. He handed him a small vial –"

"Filled with the virus," Rufus nodded along.

"Yes," Aurelia continued, "he needed only convince one Earthling to drink it to become airborne.
So Callidus journeyed to Earth through one of Stridor's volcanic underground portals."

"The veil hadn't been cast back then," Phoebus chimed in from the side when he saw Rufus opening his mouth.

Aurelia resumed, "After he started scouting the land and indulging in all that the new world had to offer, Callidus finally spotted his target: a human. He approached her and proceeded to promise her riches and powers beyond belief - all she had to do was drink the contents of the vial. Though initially hesitant, the woman was quickly mesmerized by the magical liquid he was pitching. She gave in to her impulses and drank it all. Dark thundering clouds began to gather when the last drop of the lethal virus had been consumed. The woman started convulsing uncontrollably and attracted the attention of other humans from a nearby village. Callidus just ran off and left her there to die. Two men ended up running toward the woman's aid, but there was nothing they could do to help. The chroniclers truly depicted a grotesque scene. She was clutching her throat, gagging and gasping for air as her final breath departed from her lips and penetrated the bystanders' nostrils. Humanity's fate had been sealed with the woman's death. The Euangelion Tree granting immortality to all who would consume its fruit almost immediately disappeared thereafter."

"Intense..." Rufus was at a loss for further words.

"The virus became airborne just like Diabolus had said," Phoebus spoke again. "It corrupted the land, the waters, and the air –"
