"Light band kar na!" Vaibhav snapped, pulling blanket over his head as he turned his face to the other side, while Vandana looked at him with bespectacled eyes, fingers on the keypad while the laptop screen blinked.

Sighing, she picked herself off the bed and carried her laptop, and folder into the drawing room, switching off the light behind her.

She couldn't let go of this nagging feeling in the back of her mind. Vaibhav had done a complete turnaround from his behavior before marriage. He was intolerable, rude and most importantly, exhibited marvelous apathy towards her.

She winced then suddenly, and massaged her temples to fight the headache that was getting worse now.

And still, she made an attempt to hear at least 2 more audition recordings, repeating them till she could grasp their tone, pitch, voice modulation and everything.

But with even her jaw muscles aching now, she shut the laptop, stretched her legs on the sofa and dozed off.

It wasn't the alarm that woke her the next morning, but Vaibhav's obtuse remarks as he roused her awake with a cup of tea and diabetic smile on his face.

"Shall I make breakfast too?"

Vandana hastily jumped to her feet at the remark, on realizing she had slept in. "Nhi, I will get it ready. Just give me 30 minutes".

"Vese..." Vaibhav drawled, leaning back in his seat, "aisa kya important kaam de diya tumhare Kunal sir ne, ki tum raat ko meri neend kharab kar rahi thi?"

Vandana gave him an offended look in response and spoke, "What is this 'tumhare Kunal sir'? I don't know why you keep on insinuating something when there is nothing! And secondly, I work under him so every work he assigns to me is important". And she turned to leave for the kitchen.

Vaibhav clapped, "Talking back now, are we? Nice!"

Vandana fisted her hands, tempted to throw the cup in her hand at him, but she resisted, gritted her teeth and changed her direction towards their room.

That day, she had a big fight with Vaibhav before coming to office. Rather than apologizing for misspeaking, he had called her as highhanded, that now she was working a job, house chores were all beneath her and so was him and his family.

The pen slipped from her hands and as its nib clicked against the floor, Vandana blinked into reality to realize that she had been lost in her own musings, while another audio had already auto started.

She was about to get back to work, when she heard knuckles being rapped at her desk and followed them to see Kunal standing beside her.

"Any problems with the contract?"

She looked at him questioningly in confusion, forcing him to raise his brows in query too. And then her eyes widened, as the memory of yesterday's contract came to her.

Shoot! She had wanted to discuss the contract with Vaibhav, but he had not heard her last night, then the fight in the morning had happened and she had forgotten all about it.

"Sir, wo main..." She was about to stand up when Kunal flattened his palm against her shoulders and made her sit down.

"No worries, take your time. But the recording data compilation is due afternoon, alright?"
