PROLOGUE
Tomasa Diaz was the sister of Eddie Diaz.
Or was she?
Not even Eddie knew if she was or not, but that didn't stop her from acting as if he was her older brother, becoming friendly with his friends and his work colleagues.
Which became her own colleagues.
She was quite a hyperactive woman and even though she struggled mentally with a whole lot of grief and guilt from her past, she didn't want that to make her become harsh, mean and cruel.
Evan Buckley, another firefighter, found her intriguing.
She didn't tell anybody about her life, except for that her brother was Eddie, so he naturally bonded with her, trying to get to know more about her so that he could feel like she was his friend.
She helped him through everything that was wrong with his life and he wanted to do the same with her, since they were friends, or at least friendly, but he had no idea why she was refusing his help.
He began to hang around her way more than he ever thought he would do, practically sticking to her side even if she didn't want him to.
As the time went on, the truth came out and he was left wondering should he walk away and spare himself the heartbreak.
Or should he stick by her side and love her for all eternity.
