I rode on my horse and searched throughout the land. I didn't stop until I found her. My sweet daughter, Luna. Father is coming to get you.
"My lord! I see fire over the horizon." One of my soldiers pointed it out. I looked in the sky to see it, It was close by. This was the tenth camp we went into, what in the world are the capital knights doing? Their jobs are supposed to maintain order within the land owned by royalty. This is their jurisdiction not mine but I could care less about formalities when I'm doing their jobs right now.
"We go on foot! Let's go." I ordered them. We hopped off and started walking towards it. We reached the cliff and below it was a big camp, multiple tents were set up, a few transport carriages. They were rounding up the slaves in the middle of the camp and guided them inside the east tent. My daughter might be there.
Illegal slavery has been a plague for the last few years. On paper, it's abolished but it's not reinforced ever since that stupid emperor came to power, he has been too lax. If Emperor Lex the second was still alive, he would execute the slave traders in a heartbeat. I apologize to the great emperor that your great grandson is not a great ruler.
"Telescope." I said as I held out my hand on the side, my soldier handed me it. I started looking through it to find my daughter. She has to be here. We surveyed the camp and found out they are gathering the captives in a large tent, north of their camp.
"Send a bird to Aiden. Tell him to be here with a thousand men by sundown. If he's not here, I'll cut off his arm." I told one of my messengers. For some reason, my messenger looked pale, was he sick?
"Yes, sir!" He said and started writing the message on a piece of paper to attach onto the bird. "What's your name?" I asked him.
"It's Rian, sir." He answered. He flinched as I simply stared at him. He should be at home, as much as I like dedicated soldiers, sick ones will slow us down. "Once you are done, you can get out of here." I turned my back and continued looking for my daughter through the telescope.
We stake out the camp for a few more hours, we had the high ground and it was easy to see where their holes were in their defenses. Wooden stalk walls, few archer towers, two exits. I'll give them points for finding an obscure spot near the capital.
A bird landed on my shoulder with a letter attached on its leg. I took it off and read it. It seems that Aiden is waiting for my order. He will come and surround the camp on each side while staying hidden inside the forest. I wrote a letter back and sent the bird flying. "We will attack at nightfall. Let's move." I said to my soldier as I hop back on my horse. We ride to the bottom and meet with the southern ambush unit.
......
In the small wooden cage in the slave camp holds a small child. A pretty child with white hair and bright green tint eyes. A noble child, more expensive than your regular slave. Selling them to another country will make anyone a fortune, even beggars.
"Is this the last one?" One of the guards asked as he checked off a list from his small clipboard of slave lists.
"Yep, this one's a keeper. Daughter of the war hero." His rough-looking assistant laughed out loudly.
"That's funny, isn't he at the party right now. Our leader is one crazy guy!" He also laughs with him. "Can't believe we pull it off." He added.
They left the tent leaving a dozen children crying inside small cages but there was this one child that didn't cry, her eyes looked like she had lived a thousand lives. She didn't cry but let out a sigh.
"Why couldn't I regress at 12 years old?" She mutters a question to herself in annoyance.
She may not look like it but she is panicking, she does not remember what happened prior to childhood. Only glimpses in small nightmares whenever she sleeps. The only thing she vividly remembers in childhood is the bitterness and the coldness of her cruel father's treatment.
