A soulmate. Do those really exist? Is there really someone out there in this huge world that is living just for you? Are you really just living for someone else out there? Even if they are real, how do you know it's them? Have you met them before? Have you never heard of them in your life? Do they leave a mark when they touch you? Are they the only person you can think about? No. It's not that. Don't focus on that, it's not important. Who cares if soulmates are real or not? The important thing is figuring out what this red string is...
_______
It was early in the morning as Class 1-A, the future Pro Heroes, were hanging out and talking, waiting for school to start....
"Students," a voice stated, walking into the classroom. "Mr. Aizawa? I thought you didn't come in until class started...." Tsu commented.
Aizawa nodded, "Yes, you are correct there. But, somehow a little girl ended up wandering around campus, last night and when All Might tried to approached her, she activated her quirk. For now, she is being watched by Mirio, at the teacher's dorms. But apparently, an effect of her quirk is that it produces a smoke or gas of some sort, that knocks out anyone who breathes it in. We currently don't know what her quirk is. So we are going to run some tests, to figure that out."
Uraraka then raised her hand, "Wait, what about All Might?" The door slid open for everyone to see Present Mic, "Well, Togata is also keeping an eye on All Might. He breathed in some of that gas and he hasn't woken up since."
"Don't worry, we will keep you all posted," Aizawa assured, "be prepared to possibly have shorter classes, throughout the day."
When their class with All Might came around....
"Hello, students," All Might greeted, walking into the classroom. "All Might?! What are you doing here?"Izuku asked, confused. "What are you talking about, Young Midoriya? It's my turn to teach you." Iida raised his hand, "How are you feeling?"
The old guy simply smiled, holding up his thumb, "I'm fine, thanks for asking." Ashido stood quickly, eyes widened, "Wait! Hold on! Where did that red string come from?" she pointed towards the front of the room. There was a red string just lying on the floor. "Ah-! "What the-?!" All Might exclaimed. The red string was wrapped, securely around his pinkie. "That wasn't there when you walked in!" Hagakure called out.
"Uh- I think I know what it is..." Ashido sank into her chair, blushing slightly.
"And I'm pretty sure that I know where you're going with this...." Kirishima mumbled, to her, putting his head down.
Sharky sighed, "Well- we think it's- a meme from the internet. As you can probably tell, it's called, "Red String." It's supposed to be a red string wrapped around your pinkie and the other end-...." he paused. "The other end is wrapped around someone else's finger and they're supposed to be your soulmate..." Ashido, explained.
All Might turned red, "Wha-?! Soulmate?!" That's when Izuku got the idea, "Wait! This must be that little girl's quirk! It would explain it, right?"
"Of course!" Kaminari remarked. "Way to go, Midoriya!" Someone raised their hand, again. But this time it was Jiro, "Wait...her quirk does this to anyone she uses it on. But All Might, you were the only one that breathed in that gas, right?" He nodded. "I'm guessing it must mean that, whoever breathes in the gas, passes out and when they wake up, a red string should appear on their finger. And whoever your soulmate is, they didn't inhale the smoke, just you. So her quirk technically, sometimes works one way. Only one of the soulmates has to breathe the gas, for them both to have a red string...." she analyzed.
"It seems that way...." All Might sighed, still blushing. "What are you still doing here? Go find the person on the other end!" Momo bounced up, from her seat, with excitement. "But the period barely started! I can't just up and leave to find the the other end of this string!" All Might, exclaimed, holding up his hand, showing the string.
"Aw, come on! Go see who your soulmate is! Come on, All Might!" Kaminari jumped up, waving his fist, in the air. There was then a sudden knock on the door. Aizawa opened it, walking in, "I'm glad to see that you're doing ok, All Might." He then stopped in his tracks, "What the-? Where did that red string come from and why is it on your finger?"
"The Blonde Skeleton" rubbed the back of his neck, "The students have a theory that this is the little girl's quirk is at work. And the other end of this string is tied to m-my soulmate..."
"A soulmate quirk, huh? Interesting..."
After school at the dorms....
"I'm anxious about who All Might's soulmate is! I hate waiting!" Uraraka pouted, clearly bored. "Ugh! Same here! I wanna know who it is!" Ashido whined. Shoto sighed, "I understand your frustrations, I suppose that I am a bit curious, myself."
"Ah- really, Todoroki? I've never expected for you to be interested in this kind of stuff," Deku remarked. He sat next to Shoto, on the floor of the common room, handing him a plate of assorted pieces of fruit, "Here you go." Sho looked down at his plate, "Even I'm a little surprised that I have taken an interest to this situation...."
"Hey, Bakubro! You want some fruit salad?" Kirishima asked Bakugo, offering him a plate. "Tch. You know that this ought to have a ton of sugar, right, Shitty Hair?" he barked, taking the salad. "Yeah, but fruit is so good."
"Hey, Midoriya. Do you mind helping me take out the trash?" Ojiro asked. "Oh, sure!" Izu agreed, smiling.
"So who do you think All Might's soulmate might be?" Tailboi asked, throwing trash bags into the dumpster. "Well, it may be someone he does or doesn't know, already. And we technically have to wait for him to tell us," Izuku answered. "Yeah, you are right ther-"
"Is something wrong?" Izu tilted his head to the side. "Look, someone's hiding over there..." Ojiro pointed, towards a bush.
"Hello? Is someone over there?" Broccoli Boi asked, easing himself closer to the bush. A head popped out, from behind, it was a girl. She looked around Eri's age. "Hi. I'm Izuku Midoriya, you can call me Deku, if you want. And this is my friend, Ojiro. What's your name?"
She crept out a bit, "I-I...M-My-...A-Akari...." The two teens took a seat on the ground and it was Ojiro's turn to say something, "Akari? Is that your name? Don't worry, there's no reason to be scared."
Izu nodded, "Yeah! We're training to become heroes! Now Akari, why are you hiding? What are you doing over here?" Akari inched her way from behind the shrub and stood a few feet from the boys. A terrified expression then took form, on her face as she released a transparent, magenta colored gas, from her body.
The gas blew right into their faces and then their surroundings began to blur. Their vision just kept getting darker and darker until everything went black.
