I love the smell of coffee, I thought to myself as I took a deep breath. I stop to take a look around the beautiful cafe. Above me was a big, main light spreading a warm yellow glow. Along with the main light were simple pendants over each table, and two pendants over the booths in the back.
To the right of the entrance, there was the cashier, a brown-haired, teenage boy perhaps about 20 years old. Behind him was a cabinet filled with all sorts of books. A paper sign taped to the glass of the cabinet reading: Purchase of any drink/pastry you can pick your choice of book to read while you're here :)
Wow, what a cool place I think to myself, as my eyes scan the plants scattered around the cafe. I look to the left and in the back of the cafe, there is Sunoo and Niki. Sitting together they have a few papers and notebooks spread about the table. I walk steadily in their direction while my fingers wrap around the string of my bag. I'm a bit nervous I must admit. I'm not sure how this is going to go.
"Hi, manager-ssi," Sunoo says respectfully as he lifts his head. Sunoo does not miss a beat, I think in my head.
"Hi, Sunoo!" I chirped. I decided quickly I should be a mature person and include Niki in my greeting. "Hi, Niki," I say but more passive. Niki just stares blankly barely acknowledges me, then brings his head down to whatever he and Sunoo were working on before I got here. Tuning my attention to Sunoo I ask, "Have you guys ordered yet?"
"No we decided to wait till you got here," Sunno says happily.
"Thank you," I say with appreciation. "Do you guys know what you are going to order?" I question.
"Yeah, you and I can order while Niki works on his studies," Sunno says quickly. Niki glares at the back of Sunoo's head obviously embarrassed. Niki now turns his head to me not expecting to get caught I quickly look away. Niki lets out a breath, amused by my reaction.
I decided to ignore him. "Do you want to order now?" I suggest.
"Yeah! Sounds good," Sunoo says as we walk up to the cashier.
"Hello! My name is Othello, what can I get for you today?" The young cashier asks in his customer service tone.
"Hi, can I get a large mint choco frappe and a large iced vanilla latte," Sunoo says. He turns his head in my direction waiting for me to order.
"And can I get a medium mint choco frappe as well," I say deciding to at least try it for Sunoo's sake.
"Okay," the young cashier says as he inputs our order. "Would you guys like any pastries today?" He questions.
Sunoo and I both look at each other and he says, "I think we are good for today but, thank you,"
"Alright, your order will be done in 5-10 minutes you just have to pay," the cashier says.
I prepared ahead of time as I already had my card in my hand. I quickly handed it to the cashier before Sunoo could even question me about who should pay. "Thank you for your patronage! Please have a good rest of your day," the cashier says sincerely as he hands me the receipt.
