~ "Makaria! I think he's here!" My best friend, Nita, yelled as she ran to open the front door. I stared at myself in the mirror, analyzing every little thing. Nita had set me up on a blind date with one of her childhood friends. I changed my outfit about 9 times but finally landed on a cute mini skirt with a low cut long sleeve. "Makaria!" I grabbed my mini purse and my emotional support vape and ran downstairs.
Not going to lie and say I wasn't nervous. I mean I wasn't even sure what this guy looked like. Nita only had old pictures from high school. As I reached the kitchen I could hear them talking about the 'good old days.' I walked in and was met with a 6'4 greek god. When he turned to me it felt like everything happened in slow motion. The way his curls bounced as he walked over to me, his smile was mesmerizing, and his eyes had me stuck in place. His style was unmatched and I could see the outline of his body through the clothes. My mind was racing with all kinds of impure thoughts but was quickly interrupted when he stuck his hand out and introduced himself, "Hey, I'm Carter."
"You look absolutely stunning." It took me a moment to find my words. " I- oh uh thank you. You look stunning as well." I blurted out. He laughed and then apologized for being late. Nita jumped in, "You guys should probably head out we're still going to the movies around 10 tonight." As I walked out the door, she whispered in my ear, "Don't have too much fun."
— The car ride was pretty awkward. He asked me a few questions like where I'm from, what i'm into, music I like, etc. Basic stuff but I was overthinking too much which made me more nervous. He did play really good music though. We pulled up to the mall where our first destination was, the arcade. As soon as we got inside, Carter immediately went over to the laser tag area. We were assigned teams randomly and of course we got opposite teams. I was red and he was blue. "I'm so gonna take you down." He said trying to intimidate me. "We'll see." I laughed as I put the gear on.
The game started and I instantly went to higher ground, to see if I could spot Carter before he could spot me. I hit a few people on the blue team before deciding to head to bottom floor of the room. I was doing pretty good but there was still no sign of Carter anywhere. I made my way through a mini maze before I felt an arm curl around my waist pulling me into them. I could faintly smell lavender and vanilla. I turn around putting myself face to face with Carter. He's so close I can't help but stare at his lips. I let my impulsiveness get the best of me and pulled him in for a kiss. My heart started pounding so hard I could feel it in my ears. When I pulled away he seemed a little caught off guard still, so I lifted my gun and shot him leaving him stunned before running off.
"Hey, you totally cheated back there." I heard him yell after me as I walked out the arcade. My team had won and I was at the top of the scoreboard. "Nah you're just mad that I'm better than you at laser tag." I turned to him and shrugged while checking my nails. He grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. He dipped his head down and for a split second I thought he was going to kiss me, but instead he whispered in my ear. "Next time I won't be distracted as easily." It almost sounded like he was actually upset but when he pulled away there was a genuine smile on his face. Then he quickly changed the subject. "Are you hungry?"
