"Something on your mind?" the nonbender asked.

Kuvira smiled.

"Nothing," she said. "And everything at the same time." She laughed softly. "It's so silly. Sitting here, looking up at the stars, it just... it's crazy. I mean, just a week ago, we were in Zaofu, planning this trip. And now, here we are, in Ba Sing Se."

Kuvira closed her eyes as a breeze blew across her face. Here, next to Baatar, things felt so right. It felt perfect. He understood her like no one else did. The thought scared her, but it also comforted her.

"We're finally here," Baatar said, reaching over to touch her hand.

Kuvira nodded.

"Today, we succeeded in Ba Sing Se," she said. "Our first step of many. Not all cities will be this easy, though."

"Of course," Baatar agreed. "But, I know you can do it."

"We can do it," Kuvira corrected, squeezing his hand.
