JOHN PIERCE

I ran as swiftly as my legs could carry me but it was to no avail, his impounding footsteps still managed to catch up to me. He was simply walking but four of his strides were like ten of mine. Although I was tired and out of breath, I couldn't stop running, stopping meant death and I wasn't ready to die.

"How long will you run for?, I'll always catch up to you" Don's voice echoed around me

I looked around but couldn't sight him, that prompted me to increase my pace. I was panting heavily with sweat dripping off me, there was nowhere to hide, I knew I was doomed.

I screamed as I fell into a pit filled with sinking sand. Something latched on to my feet from underneath and began pulling me down at a faster rate, I yelled out for help but there was no one, all I could hear was Don's malicious laughter. Tears began brimming in my eyes as I was chin deep into the sand, I was slowly dying but everything came to a still when a strange man appeared before me.

He was wearing a long glistening white robe and a hood beautified with golden flowers over his head. I couldn't make out a face, yet I could tell he was smiling at me. A bright light emitted from where his face was meant to be and his golden hands were the only visible parts of him but even they were blurred.

He stretched forth his hand and i managed to pull one of my arms free and placed it in his. Immediately our fingers touched, shivers went down my spine and I was elated. With a single pull, he dragged me out of the sand and steadied me before I could fall to the ground.

He smiled lovingly at me and placed one of his blurred hands on my forehead. Unexplainable peace engulfed me and I sighed, everyone of my worries flew out the window, the world suddenly felt brighter and more beautiful

"Arise!. You have been made whole" He whispered with a thundering voice that shook me in the knees

"Who are you?" I asked in amazement and his smile grew wider

"Jehovah Rahpa"

With that, a bright light blocked my vision and I fell to my knees.

I jerked awake and slowly peeled my eyes open, I blinked a few times to get adjusted to the atmosphere and light. An annoying beeping sound kept going off and I groaned, I took a look around and realized I was in an hospital room.

The door opened and Shadrach walked in with a bag in hand, his eyes widened when he noticed my half awakened eyes staring at him. He dropped the bag in shock and hurriedly ran to my side.

"John!. Can you see me?, Can you hear me?" He rushed out with hope and I gave a little nod.

There was a mixture of emotions in his eyes, joy, relief, surprise and hope. Tears began streaming down his cheeks as he firmly held on to my hand.

"I'll quickly go call the doctor" He announced and swiftly exited the room.

About a minute later, he returned with an old looking man and a young lady trailing behind him. The man looked to be in his late fifties, he was wearing a lab coat and a stethoscope hung round his neck while the young lady was dressed in the usual nurse attire and held a tray filled with some medical equipments.

"You're awake" The doctor stated in awe as he examined me.

"This is astonishing, a miracle indeed" He muttered and I wondered what he was going on about

"John, can you hear me?" He asked and I nodded

He turned to Shadrach and brought him closer to me.

"Do you recognize him?" I stared at Shadrach for a moment before nodding
