The next day, we began packing our things. I had even forgotten that we were running away from zombies. Because of the dream, I had about Xavier, I tried to distance myself away from him.

When we were done, Brandon convinced us to carve our initials on a tree to show that we were there before anyone else thought they discovered the place first.

After, we continued walking for about thirty minutes before reaching the exit of the forest. I stopped and sighed. It was time to return to the zombie world.

We walked through a few towns and we would occasionally bring out our weapons in a defensive stance when we heard noises. We had reached a big old house which smelled terrible. Something seriously off about the house. Its appearance screamed danger but we were oblivious to the fact.

Just when we were about to pass by it, a zombie jumped at us. It fell on Brandon and attempted to bite him but Brandon was fast and flipped it over. Brandon then used a stone nearby to hit its head.

At that moment, more zombies came around. We had been surrounded by at least ten of them. The zombies were fast and tried to lunge at us. The four of us had put our backs against one another and held our guns to kill any zombie that tried to attack us.

I shot a zombie in the head that tried to bite me. When another tried to lunge at me, I shot it too. Xavier, Senah, and Brandon were also shooting zombies.

The zombies were violent, unlike the ones I had fought in the past. Their expression showed that they wouldn't spare us if they caught us. They looked like they were getting frustrated.

Suddenly, a zombie attacked Xavier and bit him.

My eyes widened and for a split second, I thought the whole world had paused. I looked at Brandon to see his expression but instead, he had a smirk on his face.

Just then, I saw the zombie choking and falling to the ground. I was more surprised when he got up and shook himself and kept muttering about how the zombie ruined his shirt.

Brandon and Senah had just finished off the last set of zombies when I became myself again.

"Let's keep going before more zombies come. I don't want to get bitten again." Xavier said coolly. It's like he knew what I was going to say because he added, "When we get to a safer place, I'll tell you guys why I didn't die." Senah and I simply nodded.

As we were walking, I just kept thinking about how Xavier had survived the bite. I remember hearing that no one could survive the bite.

It didn't even have a vaccine or cure. I was thrown out of my trance after I stumbled over a tree stump.

"You need to watch where you're going else you can get seriously hurt," Brandon said when he caught me from falling.

We passed through fields and villages. We would occasionally stop to eat small portions of the dried fish we caught back at the waterfall.

On our fifth stop, Senah fainted due to dehydration.

Fortunately, I remembered that I had two bottles of water I had stolen from a shop back at home. I assume it was three in the afternoon when we decided to rest for a while. Brandon held her hand and kept assuring her that she'd be fine.

I smiled at both of them. I wasn't sure if the two of them were in a relationship because Senah hadn't told me anything yet.

I pretended to look at something to see Xavier's face, but he was wearing an annoying look of his!

I don't know how long I slept but I woke up to someone tapping my shoulder hard. When I opened my eyes, I saw grey eyes boring into mine. As long as I knew Xavier and Brandon, none of them had grey eyes.
