PROLOGUE
Lorraine Angelina Baird, the purest and kindest person you could ever meet, volunteered to take her little sister's place in the 10th annual hunger games. That was the moment her life went downhill.
She was a normal, poor girl from District 11, known for her angelic voice and face, but behind those things was a strong girl, even if some could not see that.
Lori has had a hard life ever since she could remember. She was left an orphan at the age of seven to take care of her little sister, Lily Bloom Baird, after her father died in the war and her mother passed away due to an incurable disease. But this, participating in that cruel game, was on another level.
And the worst part was, she had to fight against people who weren't some strangers. They were family. Not only her brother figure, Reaper Ash, got reaped at the same time as her, she later found out she'll also have to compete against her beloved cousin, Lucy Gray Baird.
Knowing she could not kill either of them, Lorraine could say she gave up on the thought of winning the game, but she wasn't gonna go down without a fight, that was for sure.
