BDSM
It is important to point out first that BDSM is often shown in a TOTALLY distorted way and that in no way represents the community, no matter how much certain things in pop culture have brought visibility to the subject. I won't mention names of films or series here because I think most people already have an idea of what i'm talking about.
A BDSM relationship is based on a lot of conversation on both sides, limits are spoken and RESPECTED and of course, Sane, Safe and Consensual (SSC). In other words, if it doesn't have any of these, it's not BDSM, it's abusive and problematic.
Now let's finally get to it, what would BDSM be?
It is a set of consensual fetishistic practices that basically consist of an exchange of power. Contrary to what some people think, BDSM is not always related to sadomasochism, this is just one aspect. Keep in mind that BDSM is about power exchange. In other words, it isn't BDSM if there isn't a hierarchy.
Terms and acronyms
Top: Is the dominant person in the relationship. They can be Dom, Tamer, Master or Owner.
Bottom: The dominated part of the relationship. There are several types, Brat, Sub, Little, etc...
Switcher: This is the person who oscillates between the two things above.
Vanilla: What BDSM is not.
Collar: Equivalent to the vanilla relationship alliance, and there are several types.
SSC: Sane, Safe and Consensual.
Color system: It's like a traffic light. Green to continue, yellow to be careful and red to stop.
