I TOOK A DEEP BREATH before stepping into the airport. My dad really went through with it. He was actually sending me to live with my mom and brother. I thought he'd never do it, especially since I barely knew either of them. I hadn't seen them since I was two.
"You really sending me here?" I said, my face tight. Me and my dad were on FaceTime while he cooked dinner for him and his wife. I never liked that woman anyway. She was the main one always convincing him to send me to my mom or even boarding school every time I got in trouble.
"It's for your own good, Kaliyah." I rolled my eyes. How is living with my mom in New York supposed to be good for me? "You don't love me no more. I'm convinced." He laughed, like this whole thing was funny.
