makayla
talking to her was the gutsiest thing I had done ever since lauren.
she blabbered on about what was happening in her manga, telling me about how cute this one guy is and how much cuter the girl is and how the storyline is like a movie and stuff like that. to be honest, I wasn't even listening to what she was saying. her voice was just so captivating and relaxing and it was like listening to a baby's lullaby on repeat. by the time she's done explaining what's happening in the manga, I checked my watch. it was almost 10 o'clock and before we knew it there was a librarian walking up to us and asking (telling) us to get out.
"do you usually stay that late?" I asked her as we walked out, my eyes a bit wide as it adjusted to the darkness.
she laughed. I got chills.
"yeah, most days. I just get caught up in it."
"why don't you just check out the books and go home? you know, since you're there all the time."
we were currently walking in the direction of my house. it was really just mindless walking, though, and we passed small shops and thrift stores that were coming to a close. it was dark as hell, but somehow I was able to see her every feature. she kinda just... glowed.
"yeah, uh, funny story." she giggled lightly. "I was doing that until a couple weeks ago. then I saw this really cute person and I stayed in hopes of them approaching me. and sometimes I just get caught up in that and I just don't leave until I'm forced to."
"who... who's the really cute person?" I asked, heart racing.
from what I was seeing in front of me she was a fem, which was a score. her long, wavy hair gave it away as well as the small flower crown that sat on her head. plus, she always acted vulnerable and read manga and shit (not that reading manga is girly or anything, but her reactions were pretty fem).
"this guy that's always at the computers. I dunno his name--"
fuck.
damnit.
never mind.
"I can't believe you haven't seen him before, he's absolutely gorgeous."
"oh, uh, yeah. don't really pay attention that much I guess."
we were nearing my neighborhood now.
"hey, uh, I live near here." I said, starting to part directions with her.
"okay. it was really nice meeting you." she smiled, keeping her hands in her pockets.
"I think I've seen you around school, actually. maybe we'll see each other there." I said.
"yeah, see you then!"
the day after I spotted her at the lunch tables, adsorbed in her manga. her peers that were sitting around her didn't pay any attention to her, and so when lunch ended and she still had her eyes on the book I walked up to her. she didn't see me coming and kinda collided.
"oh, sorry." I said, a small smile bubbling on my face.
she looked up and closed her book.
"it's okay, I wasn't paying -- oh, hey! makayla!"
"hi."
I walked her to her next class. I was surprised there wasn't already someone to walk her, but I wasn't complaining.
"so, do you play any sports?" I asked.
"no sports in particular, just because I've always sucked at them, but I really like running."
I nodded, "you do track, then?"
she shook her head, "no, I'm not, like, competitive like that."
we talked a bit more about random things and before i knew it we were in front of her classroom.
"I'll see you later."
I was all giddy after that and of course ashton came up to me after school and asked who that was.
"her name's callie. I just walked her to class and we talked for a bit."
he smiled, "she's pretty."
"I know."
