It had been about one and a half moons since Rainkit's accident. She had had her spirits lifted from learning new remedies and mixtures and herbs to help cats. She had memorized many by scent, yet she had much more to learn. She had been very intrigued by this role in the Clans, and Rivershine had made her decision. She led Rainkit to the clearing after talking to her leader. Leaping onto the rock in her leaders place, she called the words. Fogstar nodded at her.

"Since the drastic accident to Rainkit, she has dedicated herself and dove deep into medicine cats. Her heart was set on earning her warrior name, but I am proud to say she wants nothing but to serve her Clan. She is very intrigued with herbs, and I believe that she should be an apprentice. So it has come that she is seven moons of age, yet are still kind and happy. So until she has earned her full medicine cat name, she will be know as Rainpaw, apprentice medicine cat of WindClan." The thick-furred cat ended her announcement. Rainpaw felt her heart pound as she imagined her mentor gazing at her proudly, and felt love inside her. She was finally an apprentice, ready to serve her Clan.

"And what does burdock root do?" Rivershine asked. Rainpaw stared intently at the herb, and felt the answer light up in her.

"Heals rat bites!" She exclaimed. Her mentor purred.

"Very good." She mewed. "What cures infection when applied, and helps bellyache when chewed and eaten?"

"Uh, par-no! Uhm, c-chervil?" The apprentice stammered.

"Yes! But you need to be much quicker than that. You are amazing otherwise. I'm so proud of you." She lifted up a sweet-smelling sappy liquid in her mouth, wrapped on a stick. "What is this?" She asked. Rainpaw hesitated, sniffed, then mewed dreamily.

"Honey." She purred. Rivershine giggled.

"Yes. What does it do?"

"Increase milk in queens." She replied. Rivershine licked her apprentice behind the ear. Love churned up in Rainpaw's stomach as she heard the faint rumble of a purr in her mentor's throat. Rainpaw nuzzled the medicine cat, then quickly pulled away. The age difference was kind of big. Rivershine chuckled.

"We can be done for today. We've done enough. I'm proud of you." She looked at the sky. "Let's go to bed. Goodnight." She murmured, plopping in her nest. Rainpaw circled her nest until it felt right and settled down.

"Goodnight."
