Dew-like drops drifter over Rainwing's head, and she gasped in the air of her brother. She tried to push down what seemed like a rock lodged in her throat, but it stiffened and tension clung in the air. Tigerfoot heaved a long sigh, staggered to his paws, and set the soft body of Sableoak on the rain-trodden grass. The wind whirled through the air, and pushed Rainwing's cheeks, as if her brother was making her smile. She could not.

Tigerfoot grumbled deep in his throat, his deep voice echoing around them. "Rainwing, what are we going to do now? You'll still stay with me, right?" He meowed his query. Rainwing shifted her paws uncomfortably.

"I'm sorry; my Clan needs me." She muttered. Tigerfoot, in an appalled voice, fought back.

"But I thought you loved me!" He yowled.

"I'm sorry, I love my Clan more. Please help me carry my family back to camp." She demanded.

Rainwing sighed as she lay in her nest. Tigerfoot had done what she asked, and left. The Clan forgave her, but something didn't sit right. She padded toward Rivershine, and the old she-cat looked at her.

"Rainwing . . ." She began. "I don't think I have much longer." The scent of death flooded over Rainwing, and she recognized the tangy smell of death-berries.

"No! Don't eat them!" She yowled.

"I already did. I've fulfilled my destiny, StarClan has called to me. You will be the medicine cat of WindClan." He voice rang. The soft, shallow breaths of the sweet cat stopped abruptly, and Sunsetstar lay next to her.

"Everything's changing . . ." Rainwing muttered. Sunsetstar rested his tail-tip on the young cat's shoulder.

"Everything's fine."
