Sableoak woke up and glanced around. Maybe I should visit Rainwing to tell her I'm going to be a father, he thought. He quietly made his way to the medicine den when he realized that Rainwing wasn't there. He whispered to Rivershine.
"Did you send Rainwing to gather herbs?" He asked. Rivershine popped up, startled.
"What? Oh, no. Why?" She muttered. Panic took over Sableoak.
"She's not here!" He exclaimed. Rivershine jumped up, fully conscious now.
"Maybe she left to grab more herbs on her own?" Rivershine meowed reasonably.
"No! She never returned from bringing back Tigerfoot!" He yowled. Without waiting for a return, he sped over to Sunsetstar, who was awake and sharing tongues with Reedtail.
"Sableoak?" He meowed, stopping himself from grooming his friend.
"Rainwing never returned from brining Tigerfoot back!" He meowed nervously.
"I'll send out a patrol," he looked at Reedtail. "Sableoak, you, Blueleg, and . . ."
"Blueleg is in the nursery." Sableoak corrected him.
"Oh, then Lightningroar instead." He meowed. Reedtail leapt out and rushed to wake the drowsy Lightningroar. As soon as Lightningroar heard what happened she jumped up and rushed out of camp with the two other warriors and started their journey to find the missing medicine cat.
