'Dad, when are those generators finally going to work?' Nate yells as he throws his sport towel onto the marble kitchen island. 'I want to use the gym.' He opens up the fridge which wasn't on yet cold. A hurricane had came over obx which meant a mess everywhere and no power or service. 'Could you stop yelling?' I groan annoyed as I walk into the kitchen.

'It's 10AM, you think that if everyone on the island is in need of power, we'll be the first one to have it?' I sat myself at the marble kitchen island, I made myself a bowl of yoghurt with fresh fruit and granola. Meanwhile Nate shuts the big glass door to the garden, since the gardeners were making a lot of noise cleaning up the mess outside.

When suddenly the lights turned on, so did the AC and the oven pinged. 'That's what generators are for Rue.' He walks past me as he pulls my long dark hair. 'Nate!!' I slab him. 'Ruby, Nate please.' Dad walks in only paying attention to his phone.

Nate and I are twins, we both turn 19 within a week. Nate taps dad on his shoulder and snatches his towel from the island as he walks away to the gym. 'That looks delicious.' he turns his head back to his phone. He's always working, I honestly can't recall a time when he wasn't.

'I'm leaving' I stood up as I'm searching for my car keys in the kitchen. He looks though the pile of mail envelopes. 'Are you going to the Cameron's?' Dad throws the envelopes on the kitchen counter as he puts his glasses on his head. 'Yeah.' I sigh as I'm still looking for my keys. 'Could you ask Ward to let me know about tonight.' He asks as he walks over to the glass door to look outside.

'What about tonight? I open the junk kitchen drawer and finally see my keys which were hidden underneath envelopes. 'Ward invited us for dinner.' 'Why can't you just call him?'

A call interrupted our conversation. 'Sander, how are you?' He picks up as he walks away to his office but kisses me on the forehead before disappearing. I sigh and snatch my keys out of the drawer and walk toward the front door. I look at myself in the big golden mirror in the hallway in front of the white marble stairs. I'm wearing a white flowy sundress with brown sorta cowboy boots, golden jewellery and my long dark hair is down. 'Bye.' I yell as I get no reaction back and slam the door shut behind me.

I drive up the Cameron's property. Gardners and working people are everywhere, it's even more crowded here than at home. I get out of my black Range Rover as I see ward standing outside talking with a woman. I think it's Scooter Scrubbs wife. I get out of my car as I walk over to Sarah, she's trying to keep the birds out of the mice in the field with a tennis racket. 'What are you doing?' I laugh as I come closer, same time as Ward and Mrs Scrubbs.

'The burrows filled with water from the surge. The birds are having a field day.' she jumps as she slams with her racket. 'The cycle of life is what it is, sweetheart. Now, come on I have a human being you might help.' Ward sighs as he looks at me and gives me a smile.

'Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm so sorry.' she says reaching out to shake Mrs Scrubbs her hand. 'This is Lana, Scooter's wife. You were storm prepping with him, right?' He asks. 'Yeah. He helped me latch the cabin on the Druthers.' Sarah says polite. 'Last night?'. 'Yeah.' 'And did he go out after that?' Lana asks concerned.

'From here?' Sarah raises her eyebrows. 'Yeah?' 'No. Are you crazy? There was a hurricane.' Sarah smiles. 'Well, did he say where he was going? Get a phone call or anything?' Lana sounds hopeless and anxious. 'He didn't say anything to me.' Sarah shakes her head. 'What about you? Ruby is it right?'

Lana turns to me. 'I'm sorry I haven't seen him since either, maybe my dad knows something?' she nods as she looks at the ground. 'I'm so sorry. Is he okay?' Sarah asks concerned. 'He's absolutely okay.' Ward smiles reassuring. Something about Wards voice is off though, as if he knew something was wrong as well. 'He's hunkered down somewhere. We'll find him.' he nods as he walks away and takes Lana with him. 'I'm so sorry.' Sarah and I say in choir. 'Thank you girls.'
