Danny collected some ectoplasm from the Zone, keeping in mind what he had talked to Frostbite about.

Too much would hurt, but too little would not help in the slightest against the tainted ecto.

He laughed as Vlad climbed all over him when he arrived back at the apartment, his little hands clinging to every hem and handhold available on his person.

He was a toddler. A child.

He was supposed to be older. Older than him.

Danny didn't have a single clue if he would ever find a way to return Ferret to his proper age. For the moment, it was a day by day sort of thing.

Memories here, frustrated moments there.

He could handle it.

Eventually he and Jason grew closer, especially after seeing each other in the same places for weeks on end.

The post office, the local café, the 7-11. Jason was just a fact of daily life.

Danny held Vlad's hand as he walked to the park, looking around absently for Jason.

He had thought about his feelings about the man, been kept up by too many thoughts in the middle of the night.

He had come to a conclusion that was more rational than slapdash denial, more thoughtful than the thoughtless ideas he had before even as he stands by what he had thought.

Danny had aesthetic attraction towards Jason and he wanted to learn more, to know more. He was intrigued.

He had to talk with him more to get a better bearing on his feelings but -

Speak of the devil and there he comes walking up the path.

From what he could tell, he was walking just to walk. No bag, no determination, no nothing.

Danny chuckled when Ferret ran up to Jason, his loose hair fluttering around him. He had refused to have anything other than brushing done to his hair that day. He must've gotten tired of sitting between Danny's knees while he braided his hair back.

Honestly? Fair.

"Hey Jason!

"Hey Danny!"

Jason waved at him before hoisting Vlad up onto his hip.

"You said you had something for me?"

Danny nodded and took out a Wayne Foods branded thermos, wiggling it.

"I want you to try my first attempt at actual cooking: tomato soup." He did not mention the fact that it had some ectoplasm, the slight battery acid taste bound to be covered up by the soup. Jason did a little chuckle-snort, which made him all soft for a second.

"Alright?" Jason looked at him with an amused smile. "I know a spot we can sit and have an impromptu picnic."
