Thorns 🌹
The petals have fallen
The rose is dead
All that is left are the thornsPrickly and sharp, as they may be
But people only blame the hurt they seeThey never knew why the rose wilted
Or why it chose to go
It glinted off the sunshine's rays
Watching the river flowIt had all a rose could have
Light, water and air
Yet she knew it wasn't fairFor people thought as delicate as she was
She could never be that perfect rose
Because of those little thorns
She was to be disposedThe rose knew she was not perfect
But she had no choice
She had to stay silent
She had already lost her voiceShe swayed along with the wind
She did as she was told
Yet no matter how much she tried
She would never be as valuable as goldShe did her best
To eradicate every flaw
But they only judged her looks
And were blind to the goodness she boreThe Rose knew
She could never be beautiful with thorns
She wished that she was perfect
She wished those thorns were goneBut the thorns stuck to her stem
And people hated them all
They wanted to see them disappear
They wanted to see them fallBut what these people didn't know was
Without the thorns the Rose could not survive
The thorns were the little things that protected the Rose
And help her stay aliveBut of course, people never realized this
And criticized those thorns
They looked at them
With disgust and scornThey never saw the beauty
That lay within
For it was too hidden
To be seenOr maybe the people
Were just plain blind
Flaws became ugly
It's purpose left behindBut what if the Rose's flaws were beautiful
Something made to be known
Something made to be seen
Something made to be shownI guess people didn't think about that
That no one was perfect
And flaws were beautifulBecause even a white rose
Has a black shadow.

PoetryI wrote this poem to show that sometimes, we should not judge people from their flaws but see the good in them
