"Finally out of that hell"
The sounds of people footsteps were loud as multiple countries were hurrying out of one set of the doors, pushing others out of the way. Luckily America didnt have to deal with that this time, he seemed to have been able to avoid that this time, walking away trying to not step on his own feet. Oh this was getting worse.. Recently, It seemed his vision was getting to him. He sighed as he pushed his sunglasses more towards his face.
No one needed to see what his eyes looked like.
"Uh you guys better go!"
He heard China say close by.
America paused, confused. "Wait, where was China before this?" He rounded a corner, relieved that he hadn't bumped into anyone. Then he spotted China, North Korea, and Russia. Suddenly, his eyes grew wide. He could identify that figure anywhere, but it couldn't be true, could it? He was supposed to be dead! His son had taken over, that foolish kid, but the hair, the eyes, the flag—it was unmistakably him. It had to be. The disguise was just too convincing.
"S-s... Soviet?" America stuttered, his voice sounding shattered. The other three countries, who were used to his usual bravado, were taken aback by this unexpected change. They stood frozen, just like America, caught off guard by the moment. As Soviet looked at America, there was something unsettling about it. The absence of his eye patch only added to the strangeness; now his eye was visible, and even without knowing how it looked before, he could tell it was not in its usual condition.
Soviet appeared different, and it wasn't just his eyes. He seemed unwell. There was something off, but America couldn't get him to say anything besides his name. "America, are you... crying?" Russia suddenly asked, snapping America out of his deep thoughts. He felt a tear rolling down his cheek, not even realizing it while he was lost in his own mind.
"I.. I.. " America shook his head a bit. "Shit shit shit!!" America thought to himself, they couldn't see him crying! Especially not for him!! America quickly panicked and decided to run back to where he came from and leaving the 4 countries very confused.
"Okay, what the fuck just happened?" North asked bluntly, truthfully all of them expected different reactions from America but none of them were that. Crying? That was the last thing anyone had ever thought America's reactions would be, if anything they expected anger and fear but no. America ran away..
"It doesn't matter; we have to leave before anyone spots him," Russia said as he started pulling his father away. The other two countries were left puzzled, but they figured it was best to keep a watchful eye on America for the time being. Even though it was an unexpected move, they still believed America was up to something, and that was the last thing the Soviet Union needed at this moment.
___
"No, No, NO!!"
America dashed through the hallways, not caring if anyone noticed him. He just had to escape this place. He chose the longer route to the entrance, taking a deep breath before pausing. Tears continued to fall from his face, splattering on the pavement below. He removed his sunglasses for a moment, revealing the state of his eyes. They were tired and red, clearly showing that America hadn't been well lately. Dark circles were visible under his eyes as he sighed and rubbed them, letting out a small sniffle. While he was trying to regain his composure, he heard a noise approaching from inside the building. Quickly, he ducked behind the side of the building; he didn't want anyone to see him like this!
"Um... Do you know who that was?" He heard that voice, he knew who it was as he peeked around the corner to see Russia and Soviet walking.
"Yes but don't worry about him right now... Let's focus on getting your memories back. " Russia added as they walked away leaving the area as America's eyes widened a bit.
America wondered, "He... doesn't remember?" At first, he felt like he should be upset about it, but then the realization hit him hard, like a train crashing into him.
He. Doesn't. Remember. Him.
"He doesn't remember me? That means he won't know what happened or what I did to him! All the things I said, everything!" For the first time in ages, America thought positively. Tears were still streaming down his face, but he couldn't figure out if they were from happiness or sadness. He was confused, but then something else suddenly struck him.
They were attempting to recover his memories... "No..." America murmured. He couldn't allow that to happen; the Soviet didn't need to know the truth. America was determined to avoid that life again. Pretending to be okay... He had been the Soviet's closest friend, but he wouldn't let anyone take advantage of that anymore. He was still trying to understand how the Soviet had returned after the country had fallen apart. But America didn't care about the past; he just wanted to fix things. He had the opportunity to make things right now, and he wouldn't let anyone ruin it. Taking a deep breath, he put on his sunglasses and decided to follow them quietly. Whatever they were planning, he was going to stop it.
