"What will I do Niall??" I asked my best friend desperately as we headed towards the cafe in the entrance floor of the office where we work.
"Don't go to the wedding." Niall said casually and stood in line.
"It's Gemma's wedding, dumbass. I can't not go to my sister's wedding." I answered the idiot with a sigh.
"Well then go solo, why do you even need a date?" He asked me and I sighed again.
"Niall, need I remind you of the full story with Zayn?" I asked the Irish guy that sometimes I really wonder how we are still friends.
But I know why.
He was always there for me.
Even when I left uni in Bradford and also left home in Holmes Chapel and moved to Doncaster im midlife, he left Ireland and moved here with me without batting an eyelid or letting me object. He claims he wanted to live in England for a long time and I was just a good excuse to leave, but I know how good it was for him at home.
"Harry, so what if you have a shitty ex-best friend? Why does it matter?" Niall asked me and looked into my eyes.
"It matters because he'll be at the wedding." I said and he looked at me, clearly confused.
"Zayn and Christian's little sister, Jill, got engaged. He's coming." I answered and looked down.Gemma really held herself from getting upset about Jill falling in love with Zayn. In the end she didn't try to kill Zayn because she knows he is important to Jill and Jill was important to her because she is her fiance's little sister. And it's considered murder and she didn't really want to go to jail.
"Shit." Niall answered worriedly and I nodded, looking back up at him and moving towards the barista who turned to us.
"Good morning, Mr. Horan, Mr. Styles." Wendy greeted us kindly.
"Good morning, Wendy. It's still just Niall and Harry." Niall replied with his friendly smile that I'm guessing is what made me fall in love with Niall from the moment I met him.
He really is the friendliest person there is. I'm lucky he's my best friend."Okay. Niall, Harry, the usual?" she asked and I nodded as she smiled at us.
As she walked away Niall turned to me.
"You still don't need a date. You can go alone, and I'm invited so we'll go together anyway." He said immediately returning to the subject."No, Niall. They think I'm lonely and sad. That I haven't dated anyone in years." I answered desperately.
"Well.. that's kind of true." He answered and I glared at him.
"What? You really are pretty lonely and sad, and the last guy you dated cheated on you and you didn't care enough to get hurt." My annoying and very right friend answered which made me sigh again."Harry you sigh way too much." He said and I glared at him again and he raised his hands in surrender.
"Okay, okay! Sorry but you really should just tell them you don't have a boyfriend." He said and I know he's right but I'm not going to give up denial now.
"Niall, I really need your help. Don't you know any nice gay men?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I only know you and Tomlinson and you are not nice."
"Hey!" I said and punched his arm. Niall shrugged with a smile and I felt discouraged.Wendy returned with our coffee and Niall's two donuts. We thanked her and walked towards the shared work space where we sat to eat our breakfast every day.
"Listen, Harry. If you really need it, I'll be your date to the wedding." Niall said seeing the despair written all over my face.
I looked at him in surprise.
"Niall, I love you. But I can't lie to my family that you're dating me cause you're not gay. And they know you.. But seriously, thanks, lad." I answered after shaking off the shock of Niall's nice but really crazy proposal.
