Louis will arrive in fifteen minutes and I was still trying to decipher the dress code.
He told me on Thursday that he would come pick me up at six, and I haven't been able to get any more information out of him.I wasn't sure if this was a business suit, ball gown or tuxedo kind of event.
I tried to find a combination between the three so as not to make a mistake, it didn't work.
There was a knock on the door and I frowned.
I have another fifteen minutes!I went to the door and there was another knock.
"Who is it?" I asked. You can never be too sure.
"It's Louis,"
I opened the door and.. wow.
He was wearing a black velvet suit and his eyes were staring at me.Maybe it would have been better if I was dressed before I opened the door. I completely forgot I was wearing a white t-shirt and boxers.
He examined me and looked at me with a confused look.
"You're not dressed yet?" He asked and I looked at him awkwardly."That's not fair, you came early!" I said and he rolled his eyes. "Are you going to invite me in, or are we going continue talking in the street while you're in your boxers?"
"Oh, Shit. Yeah, come in." I said and moved aside from the doorway. He came in and I closed the door behind him.
He stopped at the entrance and I stopped behind him. I looked over his shoulder at the living room and regretted not tidying up last night like I intended to before I fell asleep on my paperwork."I'll be back in a sec," I said before walking past him and running to my room to put on shorts over my boxers so I wouldn't have to keep talking to him in my underwear. When I came back I found Louis looking at music sheets lying next to my guitar.
"Do you play?" I asked and he switched between the pages he was holding. "A little." He answered succinctly.
I just stood there, leaning against the wall while Louis scanned the music sheet thoroughly."Are you going to go get dressed or are you coming like that?" Louis asked sarcastically, looking up from the tune I started composing last week.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going so I know what to wear?" I asked in response and he sighed."What? I've watched all the seasons of 'Gossip Girl', I'm aware of the dire consequences of wearing the wrong outfit to a social engagement." I said and in response and I was completely ignored.
"Come on Louis, I need to know where we're going to know what to wear.""What is there to know? I told you that you should come in formal attire." Said the most stubborn man alive.
"But, which one? Work suit? Tux? Ball gown? What?" I was close to giving up already.
"In a dress? I've never seen you in a dress before..." He muttered almost to himself as his eyes wandered down my body.He came to his senses and looked at my face. After a short silence he finally gave up. "Wear a suit, but not a work suit. Something between a simple suit and a tux." He said and I quickly nodded.
"I'll be right back."I got dressed and after fifteen minutes I was ready.
I decided to wear my light blue suit, which is kind of a combination of a suit and a dress.
When I existed my room Louis looked up from his phone at me and the second his eyes met mine his face wore an expression I had not seen on him yet and therefore I did not recognize it."I'm ready," I said when Louis didn't respond. "We can go now." I continued and he came to his senses.
"Yeah, let's go."As we drove in silence Louis opened his mouth to speak, looking lost in thought.
"I'm warning you in advance, we're going to meet a little more closed minded people... they won't appreciate... us."
"Us?"
"Our sexuality." He was quick to explain. Oh."And how will this lack of appreciation be expressed?" I asked with disappointment mixed with anger and worry.
"Especially with disgusted or surprised looks and sentences that will not be formulated properly." He said dismissively, trying to hide his obvious anxiety.
